River Cities Bully Buddies

River Cities Bully Buddies Educate* Advocate* Adopt* Rescue We are dedicated to the rescue of bully breed dogs who are at high risk of euthanasia in local shelters. Thank you!

MISSION:

Educate* Advocate* Adopt* Rescue

WHO WE ARE:

We are a small 100% volunteer run, foster home based organization (with a small indoor/outdoor kennel at home base) located in Huntington, WV, and immediate surrounding tri-state area of WV, KY, OH. We spay/neuter, provide medical care, food and all other necessities. Each dog in our care is loved as a family member by our foster families

and integrated into our daily lives where we get to know their personalities to match them with the best possible forever home. In addition to our rescue and re-homing efforts, we strive to increase positive public awareness, protect dog’s labeled “pit bull” from discrimination, and the importance of treating each dog as an individual, regardless of breed or physical appearance. RCBB also provides assistance to help reduce the number of dogs being surrendered to shelters and rescues through our spay/neuter assistance programs and helping families facing breed discrimination issues. RCBB promotes compassion and responsibility in our community towards all animals. Interested in adopting?

*We DO NOT adopt out unaltered dogs, every dog that is in our program is spayed/neutered, so please do not ask!

*We DO NOT adopt out any of our dogs to homes who have an invisible fence, this is a NON-NEGOTIABLE. Please send inquires to [email protected] for an application. Once your application is approved a volunteer will contact you to set up a home-based meet and greet with the dog you are interested in. Our goal is to make the best possible match so if all goes well we will then set up a home visit and ask that a two week trial period be given to determine if the dog is a good fit for your family. RCBB does not want anyone to feel pressured to keep a dog they don't have a good connection with. (The full amount of the adoption fee will be reimbursed during this 2-week trial period.) If you decided that the dog is a good fit, a contract will then be signed and finalized. (The process time can vary depending on volunteer availability)

*Applicant must have non-discriminatory home owners insurance and/or

*Applicant must have approval from landlord if renting.

*We adopt to INDOOR homes only.

It is an excellent way you can help save a life, even if you are unable to foster or adopt. By sponsoring one of our dogs, you help provide him/her with food, toys, treats, and vet care! Sponsoring helps to offset our costs- in turn enabling us to help more dogs in need! Together we can make a difference! RCBB will keep you informed of your sponsor dog’s progress. Your name will also appear on our page as a sponsor (in that dog’s album), or your sponsorship may remain anonymous if you prefer. Here is the list of sponsor levels, but of course any amount is accepted and appreciated.

🐾 ADOPT ME 🐾

Meet Cheddar! 🥰

Cheddar is the bestest, happiest boy there is, and look at those ears, that smile! He's approximately 8-9 months old and weighs 33lbs.

This boy is excellent with other dogs, but of course has that crazy puppy energy, so he'd need a pal to match him. He's been around young children, and thinks they're groovy, but again, he has that wild energy. Cheddar is crate trained with only the occasional accident, usually due to my chaotic schedule, he's still working on house training, but it typically takes the boys a bit longer. He rides well in vehicles (once you get him in, lol), does well in the bath, fine with nail trims. The only thing he isn't too fond of is the leash. He will follow and listen, but dislikes walking on leash itself. With a little worktime, he will mater it I'm sure.

He really is one of the greatest pups I've ever fostered, it's going to be hard to let him go, but we can't keep them all! He would make a wonderful addition to almost any family. He is as affectionate as he is playful. He brings great joy to every day. Help us find our amazing boy an equally amazing home!

Adoption fee is ONLY $100 (sponsored) includes- neuter, rabies and all core vaccines, monthly flea/tick/hw preventative, microchip with free lifetime registration. Cheddar will also come with a free collar and leash thanks to Max and Neo.

SHOW US SOME LOVE FOLKS! We need YOUR help to find these deserving babies loving forever families!

Even though we are closing our doors (not yet determined if temporarily or permanently), we currently have 11 dogs to care for. Food alone is expensive, on top of monthly preventatives, and we still have several who need spayed/neutered.

Kroger Community Rewards makes helping rescue dogs easy! All you have to do is swipe your Plus Card, it is FREE for you and does not take away from your rewards!

We receive a check quarterly that is anywhere from $1,200-$1,600 on average. Last quarter (June- August) resulted in $1018.70 being donated!

We currently have 322, down 5 households since last quarter) 😔. Thank you to those who support RCBB!

If you haven't signed up yet, please do so and tell your friends and family. This is a quick, easy way to help dogs in need! It costs you nothing, yet helps us tremendously!

We will adopt Bumble out in any area. Breed restrictions should not apply. He looks oddly different in person, lol.

🐾 ADOPT ME 🐾

Bumble 🥰

Bumble is approximately 7 months old (already 😫), weighs only 33lbs, and is the happiest, playful, most loving and goofy boy!

To get it out of the way, we suspect Bumble has limited vision and hearing. However, he gets around extremely well and is a confident pup! He has had zero issues transitioning from his temp foster home, to the one he has been in the last couple of months. The hotel is chaos, and it doesn't bother him a bit! He has no problem getting around! Bumble LOVES other dogs! He has been in a home with two small children and loves the attention. He was in the previous home with cats, and didn't pay them any attention, but we can re-evaluate if necessary.

Bumble is good in the crate, but will make a fuss if the other dogs go out before him, he gets excited. He is starting to pick up on going potty outside, it sometimes takes the boys a bit longer in my experience. Hes pretty good on leash (when in a harness) most of the time. He is also good for bath time and nail trim (mostly, lol).

I believe that Bumble will do well in any type of home (as long as the other dogs are tolerant of his puppy shenanigans and if there are children, they are considerate). He really is a well round, pleasant, smart pup!

Adoption fee is now ONLY $100 (sponsored ) and includes- neuter, rabies and all core vaccines, monthly flea/tick/hw preventative, microchip with free lifetime registration. Bumble will also come with a free collar and leash thanks to Max and Neo.

Former RCBB dog in need of a new home. In this instance, it is best for everyone involved.

Granger, aka Alvie

"It pains me to make this post, but I need help re-homing this big beautiful blond. I hate this, but I feel it what’s best for him as well as my other animals. Please read over his bio and share with friends. I’m willing to travel a couple hours for the right home.

Granger’s Bio

Granger is such an affectionate pup. He loves having his belly rubbed and his ears scratched. At times, he believes he is a lap size dog and would love nothing more than to cuddle with his human. Granger loves to be snuggled. He enjoys taking naps with his humans and snoring in your ear.

He’s still a puppy, so he has lots of energy. He loves to play catch. He especially loves his squeaky toys and makes it his mission to get that squeaker out. He also enjoys playing tug of war with me; he is hilarious when he anchors down to hold onto the toy.

Granger has some reaction behaviors, unfortunately. He sadly will transfer his aggression towards another dog in the house whenever he sees an unfamiliar dog on our property. While he loves playing with my other dogs, he would do much better in a home without other animals due to his reaction and transference. He has lived in a home with young children that match his energy and he does great with them. I just would recommend he be adopted in a home with older children to avoid anything that could cause him to react.

Granger is a sweetheart and it breaks my heart to have to re-home him, but it has become incredibly difficult for me to manage his triggers with 4 other dogs, 3 cats, and 2 small children in my home. He has never transferred his reactive behaviors onto any human that is around him when he is triggered, it’s just sadly been on my other dogs.

Would anyone without other animals in the home, please consider adopting this precious boy. I will provide you with his harness and leash. His favorite toys will come with him. He is up-to-date on all his vaccinations as well as neutered. I can also transfer the microchip information to his new home. He is mostly house trained; he will have an occasional accident when I’m not paying attention to the signals (which is totally my fault not his). He is also crate trained if you need to put him in his crate, I will throw a treat in and he walks right on in.

Granger will be a year old this October and he weighed 40lb at his last appointment. However, that appointment has been a few months ago, so he may weigh closer to 50lb now.

I’m promise he is such a sweet fellow, it’s just his reactive and transference behaviors with other dogs that has me at this stage where I believe it would be a better environment for him to be in a home without other animals."

Message us if interested in giving him a home.

RCBB is now on indefinite intake hold. At this time we are unsure if we will reopen our doors. We have been in operation for 14+ years, we started in a time when "pit bulls" had no hope in our area. We have accomplished a lot in our years, and saved hundreds of lives, changed many more hearts, have seen significant change, but for now, we are exhausted and need time to recharge and decide where to go from here.

Please continue to share our dogs in need of a home (Rosie, Wemby, Bumble, Cheddar), if you're considering adoption, the time is now.

Once our adoptable dogs are placed, we will still be caring for our less/unadoptable dogs, so our Kroger rewards program will remain in place and donations of food, toys, treats and supplies are still needed and welcome.

Thank you all for your continued support, we will keep you updated as things progress.

PLEASE HELP US FIND ROSIE HER NEW BEGINNING!!!

✨ Rosie's adoption fee is waived to approved adopter! Application and home greet are still required. ✨

We are struggling to find even young pups a home. Rosie has been with us since she was only 5-6 weeks old, she is now over 1 year of age. All of the local shelters are reducing or doing free adoptions, and that is hurting our dogs chances at finding a home as well. We decided to waive her fee because she's waited so long, but we are still looking for someone who can afford to give her quality veterinary care and keep her in a high quality diet. If you can't afford her, don't submit an application.

Rosie has been on 4health Strive high energy/protein for a couple of weeks and she is finally starting to gain weight!

Alright folks, this is the last of the train track babies still waiting for a home! All of the girls waited over a year, we welcomed them into the rescue in April of 2024 when they were only 5-6 weeks old. No dog should ever wait this long for a family, a puppy...that is even more heartbreaking. 😞

Buttercup was adopted earlier this year, Pebbles was just adopted, leaving our Rosie girl as the last.

Please help us find the family this baby girl so deserves! Sharing is caring, it is free and only takes a moment of your time.

🐾 ADOPT ME ~ ROSIE 🐾

This speckled nose baby girl turned 1 year old in March and weighs only 34bs. She is tall, lanky, long, with a beautiful fawn coat, and has a little underbite. She is definitely on the thin side and could use a few pounds, we have always struggled to put weight on her, it could be her physique due to breed mix and/or some anxiety.

Rosie is being fostered with other dogs, and absolutely enjoys their company, however, she can be a bit rambunctious in play, so a dog who can match her energy is ideal. She is a shy girl around people, and it will take some time to earn her trust, but once she warms up, she'll be your best pal! She's starting to get comfortable on leash and during car rides.

She needs (as all puppies do), someone with time, patience and the knowledge to get her through the puppy stage, but also work on building her confidence. She needs exposure to new things, new people at her own pace, but understand she might never be the in your face out going kind of dog. She needs someone to help her become the best girl she can be!

Rosie willingly goes into the crate for a treat, however, she is still struggling with occasional accidents both inside and outside of the crate. She needs someone with a set schedule to get her into a really good routine.

Adoption includes- spay, rabies and all core vaccines, on a monthly flea/tick/hw preventative, microchip with free lifetime registration.
