Camping the way it should be in Huntingtown, Maryland
Primitive tent sites (with a few added perks) on our 26 acre Christmas tree farm in Huntingtown, Maryland 40 miles South of Washington, DC and Annapolis. Spacious and private sites to pitch your tent under the stars, in the field, or near the bamboo. The more adventurous can hike down to the creek and camp out in seclusion under the pawpaw trees with the visitors of the creek. We have easy walking and more strenuous hiking trails. Surround yourself in nature. Listen to the frogs and birds such as hawks, geese, owls, turkey and woodpeckers. Our farm sits 100’ above and includes the wetlands and Cocktown Creek which backs to Kings Landing Park and leads out to the Patuxent River. Cloudy skies can produce some gorgeous sunsets, although clear skies make for great star gazing and moonlit nights. Memorial Day is the beginning of the turtle nesting season. We have several species that come up from the creek. Please be careful where you travel and look out for the turtles. Help us mark and protect any nests you may see. The hatchlings should emerge around Labor Day, nature permitting.
We provide fire pit, wood, table and chairs for the sites. Bikes, fishing equip, golf clubs, telescope, and grill are available, please inquire at time of reservation. Bring your own metal detector, binoculars, and camera.
One mile down the road, Kings Landing Park has a fishing pier, canoe/kayak rentals, a swimming pool, outdoor equestrian center and rental hall facilities. Take a short drive to one of the Chesapeake Bay’s beaches for a day of charter fishing or crabbing (we can help steam them up with our own special recipe). Calvert Cliffs and Flag Ponds Parks are well known for fossil hunting (if you don’t find anything here). The kids will love the water slides and lazy river at the Chesapeake Beach Water Park or you could visit the indoor Edward T. Hall Aquatic Center which has something for everyone. Explore Calvert County, Maryland’s best kept secret!
