A heartfelt thank you to Del Webb's Sun City Huntley for your generous support and kindness towards Animal House Shelter! We are incredibly grateful to be part of such a caring community that shares our mission to help animals in need.
Our Founder,Lesley Irwin, was honored to be there and loved meeting everyone who joined to hear her story of how the shelter came to life. Animal House Shelter wouldn't be where we are today without Lesley’s unwavering compassion, dedication, and love for the animals!

A BIG thank you to Papadakis Photography for spending the day with us this weekend and capturing incredible photos of the dogs and cats at Animal House Shelter!! We are so grateful for your generosity and continued support of AHS! 🐾🐾
We are excited and honored to announce the opening of “Shirley’s Corner” at Animal House Shelter, a space dedicated to the memory of Shirley Irwin, the mother of our founder, Lesley. Shirley was a huge inspiration behind the creation of the shelter and always envisioned a shop where visitors could find unique items. Now, her vision is a reality! Come check out the shop in our new building, where you'll find a great selection of products for both cats and dogs, as well as fun gifts for family and friends!
🐾If you would like to donate items for Shirley’s Corner, 100% of the proceeds will go directly to supporting the dogs and cats at our shelter! Donations can be dropped off anytime during our shelter hours at our original facility lobby!
🐾We are open 365 days a year, Sunday thru Friday 11am to 7pm, Saturdays 9am to 7pm! Same address and same location where Phase One of the new building is now established!
13005 Ernesti Road - Huntley 60142
Now Buildings A & B!
🐾We are also thrilled to collaborate with businesses interested in having their products featured in our store! If you or someone you know that would like to partner with us we would love to hear from you about your products! Please reach out to [email protected]!
The new building is absolutely amazing, and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come for AHS this year! Phase One is almost complete, turning Animal House Shelter’s vision into a reality! Our next focus is to continue to raise funds for Phase Two! Finishing the full expansion is essential for the animals we care for each day, enabling us to save even more lives in need! A huge thank you to our sponsors, donors, volunteers, foster families, staff, board members, and supporters around the globe—your generosity means the world to us! It truly takes a village, and we couldn’t do it without each and every one of you. If you or someone you know would like to get involved, there are many ways to support our Phase Two expansion, including Sponsorships, Naming Rights and Tribute Bricks, just to name a few!

Ralphie update
www.animalhouseshelter.com Thanks to each and every one of you, Ralphie received his Christmas miracle and has been discharged from the ER!#animalhouseshelterhuntley #rescuedog #rescuecat #adoptdontshop #adoptme
Raphie needs a Christmas Miracle!
Sweet Ralphie arrived on Saturday from Indiana, but something was terribly wrong. Too weak to stand, staff had to carry his fragile body off the transport van. He was rushed to the emergency room, where he was diagnosed with Addison’s disease.
The stress of travel triggered a life-threatening adrenal crisis, leaving Ralphie’s body unable to produce cortisol—a vital hormone that regulates stress and bodily functions. Without treatment, adrenal crises can lead to kidney failure, shock, and even death.
Thanks to quick action, Ralphie received lifesaving care, but his journey isn’t over. Addison’s is a chronic condition requiring lifelong treatment, and Ralphie needs immediate support to recover and thrive.
The emergency room costs alone are estimated at $4,000. Please help Ralphie by donating toward his mounting medical bills today. Together, we can give him the second chance he deserves.
Thanks to the quick actions of our staff and lifesaving medical care, Ralphie is already showing encouraging signs of improvement. His blood pressure has stabilized, he’s becoming more alert, and he’s even starting to move around independently!
