Had to cancel some lessons tonight due to the storm, and we still have no power at the farm. But…Gail Anthony captured this amazing rainbow over the outdoor arena as a consolation prize. ⛈ 🌈😍

In need of a new stable hand at the farm, as one of my staff just accepted an awesome new job. Looking for someone 3 days a week (M/W/F) preferably mornings, 3-4 hours a day. Competitive pay and well behaved horses. Must have experience with horses and reliable transportation. Also willing to let an employee board their horse (we are otherwise full). If anyone is looking for extra ride time this summer I have three horses available for partial lease in Geauga County near Chardon/Middlefield. Very affordable rates. One 2’6” hunter/first level dressage horse; one young jumper; and one beginner friendly fjord that will do just about anything, including trail riding. All three are safe dependable types kept at my private facility. I’m also starting to book some new lessons for June. Please message me for more information.

Had to share this beautiful photo of our boy Gunner at his last horse show of the season, taken by the lovely Jessa Janes. Gunner and I completed our first dressage show season together in several years and ended with average scores in the high 60s, with the high score for the year being a 74+. Definitely a good feeling to be back in the ring, doing what we love! Looking forward to a much needed short break, and then planning our winter and spring horse shows! Hope to see some of you there.

Happy to be back in the show ring this summer after a few summers off from riding. I love teaching and judging, but it’s nice to get a chance to show off my own heroic noble steed!

Proudly offered for your consideration: Mr. Pumpkin. 🎃 17.1+, 5 year old, liver chestnut OTTB. Pumpkin has been lightly restarted, w/t/c and over poles and small fences. He has been correctly restarted and not rushed along. Will need a confident rider, experienced with young horses, or working with a trainer. Has a good brain, but is large, young and green. Pumpkin is very sweet, trailers well, good for farrier and has no vices or soundness issues. He is a lovely mover with correct gaits and would be well suited for a career as a dressage horse or eventer. He is fancy enough and quiet enough to do the hunters as well. He is priced affordably in the mid 4 figures, and is negotiable to a great home. Please PM for video or additional information.

If any boarders (or anyone else) want to donate some supplies to send down to the Texas equines in need, please let me know. I'm going to get a collection box started at the barn to ship out next week.

Help us help the horses!

As we sit from afar watching the devastation occur in Texas, we are compelled to do something. Dr. Mitch and I have been in contact with the AAEP, the Veterinary Medicine program at Texas A & M as well as several equine rescues in the Houston, Texas area to offer help.

Over the next few weeks we will be gathering medical supplies to ship out to horses that have been affected by Hurricane Harvey. In addition to the boxes we have already prepared, Dr. Mitch and I plan to match any donation that our clients give in support of the equine victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Right now access is the biggest issue, as it's still an on-going disaster, but several anticipated equine relief items include-

halters and leads, thrush and rain-rot medicine, disinfectants, wound cream, bandaging material, anti-fungal scrub and medication, needles and syringes, as well as banamine, bute, flyspray, livestock chalk and antibiotics.

We know how supportive the equine community can be, so please consider helping! Items for collection can be sent to our farm for collection, ordered directly from our manufacturer, or dropped off with Mitch during his farm calls. Our address is 132 Forest Grove Rd. Estill, SC 29918. Thank you all!

Sharing again for any who may be looking for their next mount! We have several horses available for sale right now at PRF and know of several more nice horses available in the local area. All horses listed are priced in the mid four to low five figures ($5k-$10k). Tell us what you're looking for and we may be able to help!

KO Dancer - "Ralphie" - 14 yr old Thoroughbred with extensive show experience. Evented through prelim and also showed in the 3'6"+ jumpers. Ralphie is in his prime and still has many horse shows left in him. Packer type, but competitive forward ride. Perfect step-up for a rider looking to move up to 3'. Light grey gelding pictured. Videos available on request.

Cruel Spirits - "Zen" - 5 yr old OTTB, retired from racing in June 2015. Has been restarted and is a very talented young horse. Currently solidifying the flatwork, three lovely gaits, schooling cavaletti, gymnastics and beginning to put together small courses up to 2'. Will make an excellent event horse or jumper. Very brave and level headed, easy ride. Dark steel grey (pictured). Video available on request.

RHR Blue Eagle - "Blue" - 7 yr old Appaloosa gelding. Blue is a very athletic horse with a great jump and lovely, tight front end. Very honest and great brain. Has evented through Beginner Novice with room to move up; has also shown dressage; trail ridden; fox hunted; done obstacles and even some cow work. He is safe and sane. Smaller, light grey gelding (pictured). Video available on request.

Indian Outlaw - "Dakota" is a 2011 15.3 and growing Thoroughbred cross Chestnut gelding. He is working confidently at the walk, trot, and canter. He is a big mover with a rhythmic canter and self carriage. He is schooling courses at 2' - 2'3" and has free jumped up to 2'9" with scope to go higher. He does have some show experience. He is barefoot with great hoof quality! Dakota has been started slow, but correct and is ready for you to finish your way. Would excel as a hunter or dressage horse. Video available on request.

Slider - 12 yr old OTTB, 17.1 hand bay gelding. Extensive experience in the 2' a 2'6" hunters. Located in Newbury, OH. Owner is ready to move up, and the horse would like to stay at this level. Would also make a wonderful dressage horse. Lovely mover! Great temperament. Great home is a must. Video available on request.

This cool weather has all of the horses acting a bit fresh and spooky... ;)

For Sale: Gorgeous, safe, sane, grey gelding with solid show miles. Frankie is a 2009 grey gelding, about 16.1h. Hes a beautiful mover with a lovely floating trot, and balanced canter. Frankie has solid show experience as a dressage horse, scoring in the mid 60s to low 70s in Intro level dressage and mid 60s in Training Level thus far. Hes already racked up quite a pile of blue ribbons and high points at our locally sanctioned dressage shows and combined tests. Hes safe and level headed, does not require any special show prep or lunging. Great in the trailer. Loves trail rides. Currently schooling 2' courses with lead changes. Has foxhunted and done some cross country schooling. He is very scopey and athletic. Sweet disposition. He is not spooky, and has no vices or soundness issues. Frankie is the real deal and will make someone an excellent show horse to go in almost any direction, though hes shown an aptitude for dressage, and will be a lovely hunter, or has the athleticism to do jumpers or equitation. Priced to sell at $10,000 negotiable to the right show home.

PRF is currently looking for an intern/working student to join us starting in September. This will be a paid position, with the possibility of a discounted stall if the person has their own horse. There will be some barn management duties, but it will primarily be a riding position with lessons included and horse show opportunities for the right person. Must be a confident rider, who is not afraid to work with young or green horses with help and supervision. Dressage or eventing background is a plus. Schedule is flexible and you'll still have time for another job and/or classes. If interested please e-mail me your resume and/or qualifications [email protected].
