He’s still a bit shy and isn’t too sure about this whole ‘adoption’ thing. Can y’all convince him that it’s wonderful, and that he’ll be spoiled rotten?

We know it’s late, but we couldn’t wait until tomorrow to post an update on our sweet Robin! He recently had surgery to repair a hole in his diaphragm after moving his organs back in their usual spots. They were all crammed up in his chest cavity, making it difficult for him to breathe properly. 🙀 The vets also confirmed that it was not a birth defect, but damage from some sort of trauma. He was possibly hit by a car, or injured by some horrible monster of a human, but we will never know for sure. He also has several kinks in his tail from breaks that didn’t heal properly. He’s been through a lot for a kitten his age, but he is on the mend! He was able to leave the vet’s office today and continue his recovery in his amazing temporary foster home. ❤️‍🩹 He and his brother Batman (who has also been very ill with a URI) will need a foster home of their own as soon as they are well enough. Both boys are very affectionate and love to make biscuits and purr, despite not feeling well.

Batman is requesting that Gotham’s tiniest hero, Robin, needs our help! ❤️💚💛

Robin, a brave 5-month-old orange and white kitten from Cattyshack, is facing his toughest mission yet. He was the sole survivor of his litter, proving from day one that he’s a true fighter. But beneath that tiny cape of fur, he’s been battling a hidden villain—his diaphragm didn’t fully close at birth, allowing his organs to shift where they don’t belong. Despite this, his heart beats strong—thundering on the left, a whisper on the right.

Today at dawn, Robin headed into surgery with a top specialist. He’s already shown the resilience of a true hero, but even the strongest need backup. Gotham, it’s time to send this little warrior all your powerful vibes. Let’s make sure Robin wins this fight.

Stay strong, little sidekick. We’ve got your bat- I mean back. 🦇

Time for an update on some of our FIP survivors! FIP is a viral disease of cats caused by certain strains of the feline coronavirus. Due to some cats’ genetics, sometimes an intense inflammatory reaction to FIPV occurs around vessels in the tissues where these infected cells locate, often in the abdomen, kidney, or brain.Without a specific, expensive medicine, these cats will die. We were able to care for these babies and get them the therapy they needed thanks to donations from community members like you! They had to undergo 84 days of intensive medicine, and endure regular vet visits and blood tests. Now they are doing much better, and are almost done with the next step: 84 days of post-treatment monitoring! About Cattyshack, Inc.

Cattyshack, Inc. is comprised of a cat rescue and adoption lounge. Our mission is to rescue felines from neglect, abandonment, and high-kill shelters. We are a 501(c)3 status that strives to provide vaccines, spay/neuter, microchipping, and vetting for illness and injury for everycat that enters our program. That is where the non-profit dollars are spent. We also work with other rescues across North Alabama to provide an outlet for the adoption of the cats in their network. If you would like more information on the rescue your kitty is from, please ask! We may not always know their story, but we know who to ask!

The Cattyshack Lounge is designed to allow humans to relax, decompress, and enjoy everything from bouncy kittens to fat furry lugs. Your reservation includes a soda, a bottled water, a glass of wine, or a beer! Feel free to purchase a snack, too, and then find a comfy spot.. and wait for the magic to happen. Schedule your visit by clicking here. A 30-minute session is a $10 donation and a 60-minute sessions is a $15 donation.

Cattyshack Adoptions involve filling out an application first and foremost. The person on site will review your application, but plan on coming back to pick up your kitty later, maybe even the following day. We take time to process applications including asking some questions, doing a vet reference if there are animals in the home, contacting a personal reference, etc. To find out more about how the adoption process works, click here.
