It is really terrible to dump dogs. Especially when it's this cold.

They don't find good farm homes.
They freeze.
They starve.
They get shot.
They get hit by cars.
They get killed by coyotes.

They have a terrifying, stressful time even if they do get saved.

We took in 13 puppies today. 2 litters. They were the lucky ones. They were found beside a road and saved. We are sure there are dumped dogs and puppies dying on the roads in our county tonight.

We can't always take in an animal immediately, but we can support animals in homes in other ways. We can get your pets signed up for spay or neuter. Even if they are in heat. Even if they are pregnant. We have food to give away. We can help with training or crates if it can help keep an animal in a home.

Please don't dump your dog. They will suffer.

Your support makes it possible for us to save these pups that were dumped. Can you give $13 for these 13 puppies?

Update: Thank you all so much for taking time out of your day to check your systems! We sincerely appreciate you all so much for checking! He just left with his dad 😃

Calling all of our vet med friends! We just took in a dog from a good Samaritan. She lives in Rogers and was heading back that way from Clifty. She found him on 412 East but wasn't sure where she was precisely. This pup is under a year old and has been neutered recently (incision is still healing). He is microchipped with number 900215010043723. This microchip pulls up with many options for possible manufacturers and their online searches did not yield any results. Can you please check your clinic software for his number? Does he look familiar? He appears to be well cared for and we would like to get him home safely!

What!
Checkers can't believe no one has come in to meet him yet. He would probably do best in a quiet home, but should be ok with friendly dogs.

We will be open Thursday 10-3, then out of the shelter until Tuesday. We can often schedule appointments on closed days though, so reach out if you'd like to meet Checkers.

Yukon is a young dog, probably around 9 months old. He only weighs about 25 pounds right now and shouldn't get much better.

He's a sweet dog who is pretty good at fetch and learning to sit and walk on a leash.

Come on in and meet him. Send us a message to set up an appointment or come on in when we are open! Adoptions just $25. Wednesday and Thursday 10-3!

March clinic dates have just opened!
https://tinyurl.com/SpayNeuter2024

We have clinics Jan 24, 29, Feb 5, 21, and 28. While they are mostly full (still some cat appointments) we could use extra hands. We really need some volunteers from 7-8 am to help us set up and get animals checked in. If you are unable to physically carry large crates and dogs, we can also use volunteers from 10-5. You do not need to stay the whole time.

We also appreciate donations to help us keep running this program. We receive no payment for providing this service. Your donations go directly to providing supplies, paying for heat, feeding our vet staff, and supporting families who otherwise can't afford these services.

If you have any questions about how you can support this program please reach out to us.

Virtual Fosters Needed!

Would you like to help but can't bring any animals home? Would you like to be a virtual foster/PR person for one of our animals?

Almost all of our animals find homes because they are seen on social media posts. Getting their pictures across the right person's screen is so important. This is how virtual fosters can help.

-Pick one of our animals that is fixed and ready for a home today.
-If you can, come in and meet them and take your own pictures, if not you can use ours.
-Write up an interesting, funny, or touching post. Add a link to our website.
- Share it! Share on rehoming groups, breed specific groups, Tiktok, Instagram, Twitter.

These are the pets we have ready for homes today-
Everest, Kodiak, Yukon, Aspen
Checkers
Big Mac
Nino
Koko

If you'd like to take one on and promote them on your social media we'd love your help.

Yummy!

Using a bread machine, we made bread at the shelter today for our lunch (we knew it would be cold and probably slow 😉).

There was just enough left to share with the dogs!

Even though it was cold last night, the coldest temperature the thermometer in our kennels recorded in the past 24 hours was 54!

We're so glad to have these new doggie doors to help keep the cold out but still let the dogs have access to the outside to go potty!

This is Kodiak. He and his littermates have been here way too long with no interest. While they are not small dogs they are smaller than they look- 25-35 pounds.

Adoptions are just $25. We are open 10-3 Tuesday-Saturday. We can make appointments outside of regular hours if needed.

We are hoping this week to have some dog adoptions. We haven't really had any since before Christmas.

There are 7 dogs fixed and ready for homes and a few more that can go home as fosters while waiting for vet appointments.

Come on in 10-3 Tuesday-Saturday to meet our dogs!

Stay warm out there today!

If you are feeding a male cat, please do not wait to have him neutered. Every second he is out there is a HUGE risk. Unneutered male cats fight. I don't care how sweet you think he is. All of them fight - it's their nature. And it's the way the most severe feline diseases are spread. You can prevent this before it happens! And, you can prevent a lot of new kittens being born outside to suffer in the harsh environment.

Don't wait for him to show up injured!
Don't wait for the weather to get warmer.
Don't wait because "he can't have kittens".
Don't wait because "you'll do it later".
Don't wait to earn his trust more.
Don't wait for him to contract deadly diseases.

Don't wait.
