🎇 A New Year’s Reminder from the Staff at Whitesburg Animal Hospital 🎆

As we ring in the New Year, we want to remind you to keep your pets safe during the celebrations. Here are a few tips from all of us at Whitesburg Animal Hospital:

-Loud Noises and Fireworks: Fireworks can cause anxiety in pets. Create a quiet, safe space for them and consider calming aids if needed.
-Alcohol and Party Foods: Many holiday treats are toxic to pets, including chocolate, alcohol, onions, and grapes. Be sure to keep them out of reach!
-Decorations and Supplies: Tinsel, balloons, and small ornaments can be choking hazards. Keep a watchful eye on your pets around decorations.
-Stress from Guests: The noise and excitement of guests can be stressful for pets. Provide them with a calm, quiet space to relax away from the chaos.
-Escape Risk: Keep doors and gates closed to prevent your pet from slipping out in the confusion. Ensure your pets are wearing collars with up-to-date contact information to help them find their way home quickly.

Also, just a pawsome reminder that we’ll be paws-itively closed tomorrow for New Year's Day! 🎉 But don’t worry, we’ll be back on January 2nd, ready to spoil your fur babies and keep them safe and sound during our regular hours! 🐾💫 From all of us at Whitesburg Animal Hospital, we wish you a tail-wagging, whisker-twitching, and purrfectly fur-tastic New Year! 🐶🐱🎆

🐾 Help Us Bring Holiday Cheer to Our Patients at Whitesburg Animal Hospital! 🐾
As we observe the holiday season, our team at Whitesburg Animal Hospital is asking for your help to ensure that every pet in our care feels warm and loved. We are in need of donations of towels to help keep our patients comfortable and cozy. Whether you have extra towels lying around or can spare a few, your generous donations will go a long way in making sure our furry friends stay clean, dry, and content as they heal and recover. This is a small way we can make a big difference in the lives of the animals who depend on us for care.

With the holiday season quickly approaching, we at Whitesburg Animal Hospital want to remind everyone to keep their pets safe and healthy during this festive time. To spread some holiday cheer, our office cat Nutmeg is already enjoying her new cat trees—an early present that’s brought her plenty of joy! We hope your pets enjoy the season just as much, and we’ve put together some important safety tips to help ensure they stay safe among all the holiday excitement.

Holiday Décor Hazards:
Toxic Plants: Keep lilies, holly, mistletoe, and amaryllis away from pets.
Christmas Trees: Ensure pets avoid drinking tree water to prevent poisoning.
Pine Needles: Clean up regularly to avoid intestinal blockages.
Ribbons & Tinsel: Can cause severe obstructions in cats if ingested.
Salt Dough Ornaments: Toxic if eaten.
Snow Globes: Broken ones may contain toxic antifreeze.
Candles: Use battery-operated alternatives to prevent burns and fires.
Potpourri: Can cause chemical burns, especially in cats.
Electrical Cords: Tape them down to avoid chewing and electrocution.

Toxic Human Foods:
Chocolate: Harmful, especially dark chocolate.
Xylitol: Found in sugar-free products, can cause liver failure and seizures.
Grapes & Raisins: Dangerous, causing kidney damage.
Yeast Dough: Causes bloating and alcohol poisoning.
Spices & Garlic: Can cause gastrointestinal issues.
Macadamia Nuts: Cause tremors and weakness in dogs.
Alcohol: Even small amounts can be deadly.

By keeping an eye on your décor, food, and potential emergencies, you can help ensure your pets stay safe and healthy throughout the holiday season.

So today, let’s all take a moment to paws and reflect on how we can treat all animals with the love, respect, and rights they deserve. Nutmeg would approve! 🙌 🐾
