We saw a shirt.

🐾 Active, he 1.5 years old. Lots of exercise and lots of playtime is a must do for this little dude!

💙 Good with cats, dogs, and kids!

🦋 He loves attention and more attention - he is a social butterfly!

🙃 He likes birds of any species (including chickens) a little too much...so he needs to go to a "No Fly Zone" home!

If we have said it once, we have said it ONE MILLION TIMES....it takes a VILLAGE! We are fortunate to have such a dedicated community of animal advocates in our area, working towards the same mission!

This week GHHS was able to assist:

🐾Huntsville Animal Services

🐾Felines & Canines "Hunter Stephenson Rescue Center"

🐾Uno's Home for Wayward Cats and Dogs

and work alongside A New Leash on Life and Rocket City Rescue to do what we all do, as a collective force, in these lifesaving efforts.

A special shoutout to the GHHS team, volunteers and staff, that made these efforts possible. Their commitment to bathing, vaccinating, and providing the TLC these adoptables needs is nothing short of...AH-mazing!

Today, our queen 👑 of kisses and love, Majesty, began her heartworm treatment at Mann Veterinary Hospital (shout out to Dr. Smothers and team!). For heartworm treatment we utilize our Maddie & Molly Medical Fund (f.k.a. Pitch in Pets), our non-routine/emergency medical budget. This fund is one of many GHHS facets that YOUR generosity supports.

The beautiful, gorgeous, lovely, beautiful (again!), fluffy SYRA.

She is an independent lady who likes to do things on her own terms. She might seem shy at first, but that's just because she prefers to observe before she interacts. Syra enjoys the company of other adult cats, as long as they respect her space. When she wants attention, Syra will come to you. We promise, her purrs are worth the wait. She is not the kind of cat who needs constant attention, but she will always be there when you need a quiet companion. Syra would love a home where she can be her independent self.

Sweet GOKU. She is chill and takes life as it comes. She can also be delightfully silly and playful. She loves idle chit chat and warm companionship. At only 3 years old, this boy was a long-term resident at Huntsville Animal Services and came to us on New Year’s Eve.

Although we definitely need a photo session to showcase this handsome dude, you can tell from his eyes he is full of LOVE! And we mean…LOVE 🩵 But what does Ferris love?

It was a short week due to the snow ❄️, but we are happy to say that 🌟 SEVEN 🌟of our adoptables were HOME, warm and cozy, with their FURever families just in time for the winter storm!

GHHS is closed again today. We will reopen for regular business hours on Monday @ 10AM!

Although closed, the adoptables are being taken care of and are being a bit spoiled…
as they should be 🩵 It makes for long days when the pups are inside ALL day, so some one-on-one time was in order. Toys, lounge time on the couches, extra treats, and additional “mini” walks to make them as comfortable as possible!

The cats were loving all the bird action outside their windows too 🐾

In other news, we are sharing an exciting update. Gray and Ginger, two very good FIV+ friends at our FIV/FELV+ Cat Haven, were adopted together. We are so grateful for this wonderful outcome. Gray and Ginger came to us at different times from different situations. Over time they bonded, with the friendly and outgoing Gray giving the sweet but shy Ginger ever increasing confidence. We are thrilled they will continue to live together.

Due to the inclement weather predicted for this weekend, GHHS has made some difficult decisions, however we wanted to announce schedule changes as soon as possible.

1. The monthly Monte's Wellness Clinic has been RESCHEDULED for Saturday, January 18. This is to ensure the safety of our clients and their pets, along with the clinic volunteer team!

2. Our event with Pet Supplies Plus - Huntsville, Al has been cancelled for this Friday. We want to say thank you to Cynthia, PSP Store Manager, and Butterfly Bliss Sweet Treats for their enthusiasm leading up to this event.

Additionally, we are watching weather for the shelter and Three Tails ReSale - please visit our FB for the most up to date information regarding hours of operation for Friday and Saturday. Don't worry, our team has a "care plan" for which staff members will be on-site with the animals!

This is CHOW MEIN. Her bright orange coat is extraordinary. As are her golden amber eyes. She is a unique beauty.

She is also independent and aloof, preferring to spend her time lounging high above the fray. She avoids the noise and chaos of daily life in the cat room. To be honest, she could take a long, long time to accept your affection and love. But we think it would be well worth the wait and effort.

Chow Mein gets along with other friendly cats…especially her “twin brother” - the handsome, orange fellow Wonton. Both are about 18 months old.

Hey everyone, Auntie Ro here! Yesterday I was able to do my favorite thing, hang out with the dogs!!! Hubble is my favorite adoptable (shh..don’t tell the others!), and I wonder everyday why he is still at the shelter. He loves to run and play, knows “sit” and “give” and gives the best pup kisses! And of course he is just handsome as heck too. Man, do I ❤️ this guy! Stop by and meet Hubble, aka Hubble Bubble, aka Hubs - because I know you will love him just as much as I do!
