That BAM Place opened in September 2016 as a thrift store to benefit the animals and programs of Because Animals Matter. At the end of 2017 our store moved to its new, larger location around the corner (44 W Main St) and That BAM Place started morphing into what is now the Schilling Pet Adoption and Community Outreach Center.
While we are currently soft-opened for business, volunteers work each day at That BAM Place to support the center’s resident dogs and any other small pets that need BAM’s services but do not have foster homes.
The facility was outfitted with 6 state of the art kennels in May and welcomed the first adoptable dogs into care soon after.
In the coming months we will better solidify daily hours of operation, but most days we are open from 10am to noon, depending on volunteer availability. You are welcome to visit with the adoptables on site and simply socialize with them, arrange for a sleepover (no strings attached or one for potential adoption), walk a dog or two (or four or whatever you can handle), pick up a dog to visit the local Hurricane Dog Park, etc.
Our lobby will soon be decked out with great BAM merchandise and dog accessories as well, with all proceeding fully supporting BAM’s adoptable pets and community programs.
And speaking of community programs — stop by the center to arrange for your pet to be spayed or neutered on one of BAM’s community pet runs to Best Friends Clinic, or sign up the senior pet owner in your life for Kibbles on Wheels pet food delivery service. BAM has many community programs to access or volunteer for right at That BAM Place!
We also accept tax-deductible donations of new, gently used and previously loved items that directly support the pets in our care (food, toys, bowls, beds/bedding, etc). Donations can be dropped off during open hours, but you are also welcome to contact us to arrange other delivery times.
