Hi!!! Our names are Sokka and Margie, and our mom, Mikayla, is this week's staff spotlight!

Mikayla is originally from North Carolina and moved to Southern Utah in 2010. Mikayla has been in the veterinary field for 4 years!! When she is not at work, Mikayla loves reading, spending time with her family, and hanging out with her pups. 📚🐶

We love Mikayla and are so lucky to have her as a tech and receptionist! 🐾🩵

Meet Hudson!

Hudson is the newest technician to join our ZVH team. He brings with him lots of jokes and valuable experience! He has been a tech for about a year now. He has a beautiful family at home consisting of his lovely wife Annie, Fitz (a catahoula), and Indy (a shelter kitty). 🐶🐱

When he's not at work, Hudson loves to watch and review movies! 🍿📽️

Bella is a spunky, attention-loving dachshund cross. Bella loves walks and exploring nature!!

Bella is a sweet, smart, high-energy girl (around 3 1/2 years old) who loves to play ball and go for long walks where she can explore whatever nature has to offer. She's still a little nervous about being up for adoption, especially around some men, but should relax once she's in a home of her very own.

Bella is housebroken and she has been spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated. She gets along with cats and other small dogs, but is more interested in playing ball with her people. She is excited to find her perfect family. She will need an adopter dedicated to keeping her beautiful feathery ears tangle free, so regular visits to the beauty parlor will be in your future.

🚨UPDATE🚨

Persidio Pete, the lovebird from a few weeks ago, came back for his surgery!

Pete got a small piece of foreign material (possibly string) wrapped around his leg, causing the leg to go necrotic. Dr. Wittwer performed an operation to remove his leg and he did amazing! Pete is now recovering at home with his wonderful owner. (Plus his fancy cone).🦜💚

Also, if you guessed 30.6 grams as his weight at his last exam, you're right!

Hi!! Our names are Archer and Rocket and our mom, Megan, is Zion Vet Hospital's spotlight of the week!

Megan is the lead technician and is absolutely incredible at what she does. She is originally from Northern Utah and has been in the veterinary medical field for 4 years. She has a special interest in surgery and behavioral cases. We are so lucky to have Megan and couldn't imagine the hospital without her!🩺🩵

Starting the first week of August, we will begin our monthly patient spotlight series!

How do I submit my own pet?
-Easy! Just send a photo (or a few) and a short bio of your pet to our email, [email protected]. Short bio may include- how long you have had your pet, what your pet loves to do, your pet's favorite snacks, or any fun facts you'd love to share with our social media. If applicable, include your social media handle so we can tag you if your pet wins!

How is the pet of the month selected?
-We will write all the submitted names on slips of paper and have one of our employees draw from a cup!

Meet Kiersten!

Kiersten was born in St. George and grew up in beautiful New Harmony. She has been in the veterinary field for 5 years and has been a licensed technician for 2! She has also trained as a customer service representative, so you may see her lovely face at the front desk every now and then.

Kiersten loves backpacking, hiking with her dogs, paddle boarding, volunteering at Enoch Wildlife Center, reading, painting, crocheting, and embroidery. She is incredibly talented and passionate, whether it be her work or hobbies.🏔️🩺

All three of these gorgeous kitties are Maine C***s. Loki is 13 weeks old, Drax (Loki's housemate) is over 1 year old, and Nugget is 24 weeks old. We looooove to see big sized cat breeds like them!!🐾🩵

She was born here in Southern Utah, but lived in San Diego for most of her life. If she's not at work, you can find her snowboarding or at the lake, depending on the weather. 🏂☀️

TOSIE!!🤩🐢🤩🐢🤩

We had the AWESOME opportunity to see Tosie as a patient this week. Tosie was presented with symptoms of an Upper Respiratory Infection, which is very common, especially in our reptile patients!

We sent Tosie home with an oral antibiotic to use for a week, and we also sent a f***l sample out to our laboratory. Hopefully she will start feeling better soon!🐢🩵

PS- Can you guess why her name is Tosie??

She is missing all the digits on her left front leg. She has no "toesies"!!

Happy Staff Spotlight Day!!!💡🌟

We are SO excited to introduce you to our amazing Dr. Kathleen Carey! Dr. Carey grew up in New England and moved to Southern Utah in 2022. She earned her bachelor's degree in animal science at the University of Connecticut and continued on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. 👩🏻‍⚕️

Dr. Carey most enjoys internal medicine, ophthalmology, and neurology cases. If she isn't at work, you can usually find her hiking, doing CrossFit, or playing with her mare. Dr Carey has two adorable hiking partners- Gypsy, a congenitally deaf cattle dog cross, and Chico, a rambunctious Chihuahua cross. 🐶

We are ecstatic to be spotlighting none other than our fearless leader, Dr. Casey Wittwer.

Dr. Wittwer was born & raised in St. George, Utah, and has spent most of his life in Southern Utah. He graduated from Washington State University as a Veterinarian in 2007 and has been practicing ever since! He and his wife, Andrea, have four children and many pets at home.

Meet Dakota!!🐾🤎

Dakota came to visit us on Monday, after her owner became concerned that she may have ingested a fishing hook!🎣

We took some X-Rays of her and were able to discover that luckily, Dakota did not have a fish hook in her belly!🩻

Please join us in welcoming our newest Doctor to the practice, Dr. Joseph Cook!🐾

Dr. Joseph Cook grew up in Highland, Utah on a 25-acre farm with cows, horses, dogs, cats... and just about every other animal you can name! His love for animals and insects started from a young age, but it was not until his undergraduate studies that he discovered the field of Veterinary Medicine. He pursued a Biology degree from Utah Valley University, then earned his DVM degree from Western University of Health Sciences.

Dr. Cook is married to his high-school sweetheart, and they have 3 beautiful daughters and a girl rescue doggo (German Shepherd/Husky) named Sylvie. He is a mountain man at heart and enjoys the outdoors whether it is camping, hiking, fishing or just enjoying a beautiful mountain view. He is an avid Lord of the Rings fan and enjoys a good chess game!

Dr. Cook loves surgeries and interacting with clients to find the best possible solution and treatments for their family members. He is anxious to serve the Zion Veterinary Clinic community and cannot wait to meet you and his patients.
