REMINDER FOOD DRIVE FOR Operation Kind Heart

A fellow animal rescue group needs Because Animals Matter (BAM) to assist them in collecting dog and cat food donations.

Operation Kind Heart helps the dogs and cats primarily on the Navajo Nation in Four Corners area of the reservation.

Don’t Bully Our Breed!

Why? Cause pitbulls are amazing!!! October is pitbull awareness month and we are here to remind you there may be lots of opinions but then there are the facts!

Pitbulls (aka land seals ❤️🤣) are among the nicest of dog breeds based on the American Temperament Test Society. You may have an opinion on that but stats don’t lie and no dog breed is born aggressive.

They are almost always misunderstood, the underdog of the canine world and we will continue to advocate for the breed and the good they do!

stands for ending breed specific legislation. Breed-specific legislation (BSL) refers to laws that ban or restrict certain types of dogs based simply on their appearance, usually because they are perceived as dangerous. 
These outdated laws and ordinances limit responsible people’s right to love and care for any breed of dog they choose. In addition, BSL often forces people to give up their innocent pets, which no one should have to do.

FOSTERS NEEDED FOR ELLIE AND JASPER (They can be fostered separately)

Beautiful baby Ellie and her oh-so-handsome brother, Jasper are now four months old and are looking for a foster who can help them become the best adoptable versions of themselves.

German Shepherd Dogs are playful, extremely smart and full of energy. They need continual training, socialization and new experiences. Knowledge of the breed is a plus because Ellie and Jasper are reaching the age where they will test their boundaries and may become stubborn. It’s important that they receive training with a gentle hand starting now to develop their futuresocial skills.

We have made the decision to hold off having them spayed and neutered until they are six months old since they are large-breed dogs. Because of that, we can only allow them to be placed in a home with no other unaltered dogs. We are accepting applications for fosters LOCALLY ONLY (Washington County).

Thank you to LaVerkin City Animal Control, New Start K9 and Jackson Day Foundation Animal Rescue. It is wonderful to have a rescue community in S Utah that works together. Especially now when we are all stretched beyond our capacity but these innocent beings need humans that will step up for them.

The 5 German Shephard puppies recently surrendered to the LaVerkin Animal Shelter have now been placed in foster homes!

Thank you to LaVerkin Animal Shelter, , the volunteers at the shelter, , , Jackson Day volunteers, and all of our friends, family, followers, and the general public for stepping up for these puppies! We are so grateful for each and every one of you.

Once these puppies are fully vaccinated, healthy, socialized, and spayed/ neutered, they will be ready for their fur-ever homes. We'll keep you updated with their progress.

We’re proud to share the Hercules Fund, dedicated to providing free or low-cost euthanasia services for pets facing terminal illness or severe suffering, especially for families in financial need.

This program honors the special bond between pets and their owners, ensuring a compassionate farewell during one of life’s toughest moments.

Meet Hercules: In May 2024, Hercules and his furry dad, Zeus, came to our shelter facing housing challenges. After a joyful period together, Hercules tragically lost his sight and was later diagnosed with cancer. His dad made the heartbreaking choice to say goodbye, surrounded by love.

Thanks to generous donations, Hercules’ family didn’t have to face this loss alone. The Hercules Fund supports families navigating similar heart-wrenching decisions, ensuring they can focus on love and comfort in their pet's final moments.

All of us at BAM are indebted to this remarkable lady . Susan is our Volunteer Coordinator (trainer, schedule maker, den mother, etc). She also serves on the Board for BAM. She spends a considerable part of her weeks recruiting volunteers, coordinating training sessions and trying to "herd" all us volunteers onto a monthly schedule. No easy task! Susan has been involved in rescue and BAM for several years. We want to recognize her extra efforts during this past month organizing volunteer meetings and implementing some changes to our volunteer opportunities. She has mentored so many of us and we are beyond grateful for her. Thank you Susan for being an intragal BAM family member 🐾🐾🐕🥳
