This sign posted on the sliding glass door between the surgery suites still makes me smile. Back when the kids were just babies we had to make this hard rule so I could concentrate on a surgery without all the drama of the kids screaming. All my kids knew that if they were to come into a surgery they had to be quiet. Today the rule still stands for the grandkids, vets and techs alike. There will be no crying in my surgery rooms.

Saturday June 22nd, NVS will be celebrating Ciara Keeler & Austin Bell getting married. Our doctors will NOT be available but the office will remain open for purchases and scheduling appointments. Yeah, Our baby girl is getting married. Congratulations to the Happy Couple!

!Rabies Alert!

Dr. Clay had another animal unrelated to the 2 previous cases test positive for Rabies. This case originated from a Fox that was walking in circles and snarling at farm equipment! Please use caution when dealing with animals that are suspected to have rabies. Please ensure that you keep your pets up to date on vaccines to prevent this deadly and preventable disease. Luckily there were no exposures with this case.

Attention!!!!! Dr Clay just had another positive rabies in a cat diagnosed. Same senerio as the last one except no person was bit. 1 of eighteen farm cats started attacking her kittens and acting strange. Rabies is a fatal disease in both humans and animals. Please get your animals vaccinated for rabies!!! We offer a farm and feral cat program where we give you a free rabies when you have them spayed/neutered, we have rabies vaccination clinics once a week in a different town for the month April all in an attempt to get as many animals vaccinated as possible. Rabies vaccine has been proven to be very successful at preventing the disease. Both of these cases were not local to each other.

****PSA ON RABIES*****

Ninnescah Veterinary Service LLC has just diagnosed a positive case of rabies in a farm cat. We treat every bite wound from a non vaccinated animal very serious as it may life or death situation. We had a client pick up a farm cat and was severely bit on the arm. Under the advice of Dr Clay the farm cat was brought into the clinic and euthanized for testing. Dr Clay informed the client to go to the emergency room and start rabies vaccinations immediately and not to wait for the test to come back from the lab. The owner complied to this recommendation and received her rabies vaccine and immunoglobulins. Two days later we got the results that the cat was indeed positive for rabies. This is the exact reason we push rabies vaccinations in pets so hard. We receive a lot of push back on rabies vaccine daily as if we are trying to up sale that vaccine to pet owners. We are truly pushing rabies vaccine as a public safety service. Rabies is a deadly disease but fortunately the vaccine is very effective in preventing the disease. Please get you pets vaccinated for rabies!!! It could be a matter of life and death for not only your pet but also you.

PSA!!!! Hot days when you bring two dogs to the vet clinic and only one has an appointment bring both dogs in with you. If you leave the other dog in your vehicle with the motor running and air conditioning going he will lock your door, turn on your wipers and turn the turn signal on. Luckily I have a good crew that is well versed in unlocking car doors....door was unlocked and dog was safe seconds after video was taken....
