Koda has been at the shelter since October 🥺. He might look old with all that gray - but he's only 6!
Koda is starting to get a little kennel crazy being stuck at the shelter day in and day out. He had a few nights in a foster home to rest, relax, play and show off his charming personality. Watch his video to see how it went!

Daisy is a darling little 5 year old that is all about making you smile. Our best guess.... Cattle dog/hound mix. She weighs 45lbs.
Her tail never stops wagging!
We're still getting to know her, so we aren't sure how she is with other dogs or cats, yet!
Daisy was recently spayed and is fully vaccinated.

Ziggy is a BIG handsome lab mix.
He's obedient, treat motivated and a real charmer. He'll give kisses to anyone willing to accept them, and is always willing to offer a paw. Ziggy has done well playing with female canine companions at the shelter. Ziggy was found as a stray and transferred to us from a local impound, so his history is unknown. Did we mention he's BIG?! Ziggy will need a family used to large breeds. He's very strong and not great on leash (yet). He's quiet in his kennel and always ready for what's next!
So... what's next? Looking for a new best friend? Come meet Ziggy!

Kayleigh lights up when she sees kids. She does great with other dogs AND cats! She is very food motivated and eager to learn for treats. Kayleigh loves to cuddle up and "hide" next to you, under you, or just anywhere close to you.
She is a sweet and adorable, 6 month old cattle dog mix ready to meet you!

We are looking to add to our Kuranda cat bed supply! We currently have 5, but would love to have one for every single kennel! These are great to give cat's varying levels to lounge, something fun to jump up and down from when playing with their roommates, and are also great for draping blankets over to provide a secret hideout for the more shy kitties.
Can you help us help them make their stay with us more comfortable?
We've set a goal of 30!

Sushi could be classified as a gentle giant.
He is a BIG boy - weighing in at 92 pounds.
He loves everyone he meets, walks well on leash and keeps a clean kennel.

Dexter is a wonderful, medium sized guy ready to live the life he deserves.
He loves to be with you in whatever you're doing. He enjoys going for walks and getting treats and lots of pets.

Dexter came to us with an unknown history. He had been moved between many homes in a short span of time and was clearly "lost" when he came to us.
Despite whatever he went through, Dexter is a sweet and gentle companion.

Over the weekend, our shelter medical team found one of the cats in a medical emergency.
Cheeto had a urinary blockage. He was continually trying to urinate, but couldn't. Cheeto was horribly uncomfortable and needed medical attention fast! Of course... it was Saturday afternoon and all of our local clinics were closed for the weekend. The closest emergency vet was beyond our financial abilities, and tough choices had to be made. Thankfully, the shelter vet tech made a call and was able to have Cheeto cared for locally. Lester Prairie Vet Clinic agreed to see Cheeto after hours and perform the life saving surgery he needed! They cared for him through the weekend, and we are ecstatic to say that Cheeto was released this evening! The shelter setting proved to be too stressful for Cheeto. Stress can significantly contribute to urinary blockage in cats, so he has moved into a foster home to be closely monitored and relax.
We are incredibly grateful to our shelter team that acted quickly. Many thanks to the Lester Prairie Vet team for saving him, and to his foster family that opened their hearts and home to a boy in need.
As you can imagine, this was not an inexpensive bill, but it saved Cheeto's life! Cheeto will also require a special prescription diet to help prevent this situation from happening again, which is another added expense.
