✨Q&A with Trainer Paige✨ Q: What is resource guarding? A: When a dog deems an object, whether it’s food, a toy, a location, or even a person high enough value, occasionally they develop tendencies to try and possess or “protect” that object. This can happen for a myriad of reasons, from having a lack of access to that resource in the past, to a lack of boundaries on the part of either the dog, person, or both. The most common type of resource guarding is food, often their regular meals or treats. Eris, one of Trainer Paige’s personal dogs, is a resource guarder.
