Very interesting read! Maybe some hope for the bees yet. A mold and Mycelium are much more natural then some industrial chemical.

Researchers develop a fungus that kills mites that contribute to honey bee Colony Collapse Disorder.

Got a look into the hives, girls are doing well, bringing in that maple pollen already. Hoping for a good year!

We are now pleased to offer a limited number of nucs for sale. 5 frames, Italian queens from proven overwintered stock. $160.00 each.

Catching swarms and making splits. But the heat has forced us to call its quits for the day. A very limited number of nucs will be available soon. Also working on our queen bee breeding.

We have honey available now! $5 per jelly jar, $10 per pint or $20 per quart. Message us for more details!

I was hoping to be able to get into the hives this weekend and start doing splits, but I apparently forgot to tell the girls. Here's my first swarm of 2017. Nice big swarm and easily accessible on the ground. I set up the nuc box, shook in that main branch towards the back and the rest of the girls marched right inside on their own. Love the easy catches. Guess I'll definitely be doing more splits this weekend weather permitting. I will have a very limited number of nucs available this year. Plenty of honey still available now.

Enjoying the nice weather and getting a chance to check on the girls. It's been a long rough winter. Everyone still had food from when I checked them last. Even saw a few bringing in pollen, not sure if they've found something or robbing out of empty hives. Hoping the nice weather continues and we can get some trees to bud.

Just got done checking on the hives after Stella. She sure did mess up the bees. I went into winter with 22 hives, and after checking today I'm now down to 10 hives. Out of the 7 I just lost, 5 of them still had food I had given them a few weeks prior.

Just got done checking on the hives. It's 60 here today so the bees are very active. Gave everyone some food to help hold them over for the remainder of the winter. Winter losses are low, so far I lost 3 right before winter and 2 after for a total of 5. Be sure to give us a like, and check back soon. We are sure to have a bunch of nucs available this year!

Reducing entrances, closing up screened bottoms and getting ready for winter. Don't forget to give us a "like" while checking out the page so you can stay updated with our activities!

Gearing up for winter. Activity is already starting to slow, and the bees don't have much left to feed off of as far as flowers go. Bottled honey is now available. Inbox me for more details.

Just finished up harvesting and spinning the last of the honey for this year. Straining and bottling still to go. Next is to start prepping for winter.

Bee fact #3 In a honey bees life, she will collect 1/20th of a teaspoon of honey.

Still spinning honey here. Got some time off from one job to work more at another so afternoons are free to work on the bees. Not much fun doing it when it's 90 degrees In the shade and all my hives are in full sun and I'm wearing a bee jacket. Going to try to get my labels made this week too, then sales will be open!

Just added a couple services to the page. Be sure to check them out!

We've just taken the next step in expanding our apiary. We are now breeding queens to sell. We are starting off small with one double mating nuc. Unfortunately I was late cutting out the queen cells and only managed to salvage 1 out of the 2 I needed. The queen has hatched and will be for sale once she gets laying.

Bee Fact #2 Honeybees stroke their wings approximately 11,400 times per minute, thus making their distinctive buzz!

OK let's try to get a bit educational here. Bee fact #1 American's consume 285 MILLION pounds of honey per year!

Working on pulling honey off the hives. Only a box and a half and already I've already filled a 5 gallon bucket, and then some. Here are a couple pictures of a fully capped frame of honey. As well as a full and ready to harvest frame of honey that wasn't yet capped.

06/05/2016

Working on creating my honey jar labels. Got it pretty much all sketched out. Just have to get a small simple bee picture, pick the size needed and get them printed. Hoping the weather works in my favor tomorrow, going to start extracting honey.

Working the bees in this heat isn't any fun. But I'm behind and don't have a choice. Had a hive send out 2 swarms and prevented another from doing the same. Honey supers are filling up fast and I'm adding more to be filled and give the bees more space. Will be pulling filled boxes off in the next couple of days.

The today, it's grown just a little bit I'd say. So big, I can't even get it all in one picture anymore. (Sorry for the blurry pictures, my camera lens is cracked.) This isn't even all of it. I just put up another hive stand, and have a 6 frame and another 10 frame deep, I just added a second 10 frame deep to that's not even pictured. Added a little color to the apiary too, going with the light blue color, and I've grown so fast this year, one of my didn't even get painted yet.
