December 15th, 2008 - 15 years ago!
The very first Top Gun Retrieverz litter was born.
Our very first souvenir, Fireball’s, Birthday. She’s been gone close to 3 years now. It took me about 2 years to get over her sudden passing. She was my little shadow. When Justin saw how red some of those puppies were; he HAD to keep one. And Fire did produce some really amazing pups!
December 15th, 2023. The first time celebrating our first litter without the Momma, Lucy around. It’s weird. I’m feeling nastalgic tonight and missing the ‘old’ days. Our original pack is all gone. Cougar and Fireball joined our family around the same time. Those 4 were our pack for a long time before we expanded further.
Happy Birthday to the 1st ever Top Gun Retrieverz litter!! Even though I doubt any are still around. 😢

The girls are 6 weeks old!! They got to play outside tonight and LOVED it!!
Right now, we would say they are all pretty outgoing, but Hailey and Justine are the craziest. Kristin likes to chill and investigate a little more. Avery likes to cuddle (and attack her sisters). 😊

(This was during sunset, so the lighting changed a lot!)

And I can’t remember who else was who because I took them last night. I’ll start getting individual pics this coming weekend.

3 weeks! They are walking! They are almost at the cutest stage! {squeal 😁} This is also when they get messier. They are all in the upper 4 lbs range, except Kristin; she’s a chunker at over 5 lbs.

We made the incredibly difficult decision to say goodbye to Lucy Goose today.
We all love her so very much, but her hips had given up on her and she struggled, but would NOT give up and kept trying!
She was the best Momma and hunter and an independent lady until the very end! She was Justin’s 1st Master Hunter and a great hunting dog as well. She was friendly to all and a wonderful part of our family for 4 days short of 16 YEARS!! The girls never knew a time without Lucy in their lives. She loved playing in sprinklers and ice cream the mostest! So we got her one last ice cream cone. Until we meet again beautiful Lucy Goose. Love you forever!!

The girls are 2 weeks old today! 7-3-23
They are all between 3 and 4 lbs. They have opened their eyes in the last 2 days!
Kristin gets whiney when she gets ‘lost.’ She has also passed Justine in weight.
Avery is still the smallest and darkest. Hailey is the lighter one.
Momma is doing well; we don’t have to make her quite as much gourmet food. For a while there, she was not having the kibble. She’s taking more breaks from the girls. She lays just outside the puppy room. She’s a good Momma. She still doesn’t like when any dog besides Ruby (her sister) comes near the pups.

LITTER ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!
All Yellow puppies Due June 20th and ready to go around August 8th. This breeding is a line breeding on FC AFC Hilltops Hayseed and we are very excited to see this pairing in action. This is possibly Oakleys last litter and we Have chosen Drake as a stud for very specific reasons. Oakley was bred to NFC Floyd who has FC AFC Hilltop Hayseed lines and we had outstanding results. She was also bred to another Sire out of Lanes lets get ready to rumble (Ali) once again with outstanding results. Drake will bring the best of both worlds from Oakleys previous litters. Oakley has puppies currently running Field trials and also has puppies running all levels of Hunt tests including one who master titled as a 2 year old and then went on to qualify and pass the Master National as a 2 year old, Oakley has been an outstanding producer. Oakley comes from our own breeding program and is a perfect example of all the traits that we breed for. She is a great looking female weighing in at 75 lbs. She is very intelligent and picks up on things very quickly but more importantly she is very biddable and wants nothing more than to please and to do the task correctly. Oakley makes hunting and hunt tests fun and has no bad habits, she is truly a treasure to have in the blind! She was ran in Juniors by my 8 year old daughter, she also handled her to a Senior pass when she was 11. Oakley is the type of dog we strive to breed here being very amateur friendly to train and run. , We own Oakleys full sister Ruby who is also very talented and very biddable showing great consistency in the bitch line. Some of the dogs you may recognize in her pedigree include, FC AFC Rebel With A Cause, 2XNAFC FC Candlewood's Ramblin Man, 2xNAFC 2 CNAFC FC CFC Ebonstar Lean Mac, NAFC FC Cody Cut A Lean Grade, FC AFC Hilltops Hayseed. Oakleys health clearances: Hips-OFA Excellent, Elbows-OFA Normal, Eyes-OFA Normal, EIC-Clear, CNM-Clear, as well as a full Pawprint Genetic panel-All Clear.
Drake is a very talented dog and comes from very strong lines, being sired by FC AFC Lanes lets get ready to rumble (Ali) A well known producer. Ali was found to have very successful breedings when bred to FC AFC Hilltops Hayseed females, Drake is the result of one of those breedings. Drake lived up to his expectations and was a great marking dog at a young age earning 28 derby points In his derby career which put him on the national derby list. He quickly followed by getting qualified all age as a 2 year old. He has accumulated 42 all age points in his career and qualified for the 2022 national amateur and went 5 series. This is our beautiful, old lady, Lucy!
She will turn 16 in 2 weeks!!
Miss independent! She putts around just like a super old, retired person would.
She struggles to get up, doesn’t hear well anymore and walks a bit crooked, but she just keeps going and doing whatever she wants!
Tonight may have been the last time she will ever hang with me in the yard, who knows, but I am soaking up as much time as I can with her; she is the last of our original pack.

He is goofy and doesn’t stop (just like his Momma) and is obnoxious!!
But he’s handsome and getting pretty smart and we hope that one day he grows out of his puppyness and becomes a fantastic stud! Happy Birthday Cain!

7 weeks today!!
One goes home tonight! A black male, to Oregon. The rest go home this weekend. And there is one black male left, so spread the word.
They went outside for about 15 minutes yesterday. I think a few were cold, but they enjoyed themselves overall.

I’ve (K) been thinking a lot about this guy today. It would have been his 16th Birthday. It’s his 2nd Birthday in heaven. He was our first dog together. He was so smart, tall, loyal, loved retrieving and was so stubborn!! Gunnar, the namesake of Top GUN Retrieverz. Happy Birthday Gunnar Man.

We thought this was funny!! He’s not happy right now! 😂 He apparently wanted to stay with his siblings. (This is why we socialize; so they love and trust people.) Blue Male - Hershey We start removing them from the group and cuddling them for little bits at a time, at 2 weeks old.
