Progress little by little! TWO REACTIVE DOGS LAYING NEXT TO EACH OTHER ON THE COUCH! Previous Bait dog is even sleeping belly out & completely EXPOSED! This is such a big deal.

1. Dogs will never lay in situation that they are not comfortable in.
2. Dogs will not reveal their belly if they feel insecure. Having belly exposed means another can easily attack them and quite frankly, end them quickly.
3. Both sleeping - they let go of insecurities to genuinely rest 🧘🏻‍♀️

People say cat nap …. I strongly believe in the benefits of a pack nap. ♥️

I was recently asked:
What do you love most about your job?

I gave a very generic answer at the time as it was just in passing. However, I can’t stop thinking about it. What do I love most about my job?

⬇️ Here is the truth ⬇️
My job is not always an easy job. I see so many cases that absolutely break my heart and send me into tears. I work predominantly with highly reactive and anxious dogs. Most have a bite history on people or other animals when I meet these dogs for the first time I see them in their absolute lowest only way is up from the moment I see them so what do I love most about my job?

When I get to witness a dog regain confidence independence on the ability to participate in every day, life activities, allowing them to return to their home or community and live a fulfilling life. Essentially seeing the tangible progress and positive changes in a dog‘s quality of life through my support and interventions… granting them the ability for second chance & newfound hope….

Meet Rocky! He is 5 days into his board and train program here with Mistie. He was sent to our program based on previous aggression with his 2 other housemates. Before he got in with Mistie, he had been muzzled often & even managed to scrape up his sister with it on. Plus he was bossy, rude & “intense” with the new puppy.

Monday at arrival we began our evaluations to see just how intense this case was. There was significant kennel aggression towards other dogs with snap of the mouth that were pretty loud. Monday he was also sized for a muzzle as it was not safe for him or other dogs without one.

Mistie’s 24 hour evaluation concluded: “He is an old man with insecurities that he has never been able to properly work through nor has he learned how to navigate such strong emotions.”

Today we met a HUGE milestone! He is 100% graduated out of a muzzle! PLUS! He started to cuddle with T**s, my energetic & over the top, mini dachshund.

Main focus of his visit on his top 10 things to work on: Aggression. I say we are well on our way to a new & more stable dog.

*PS he is 8 years old in April - old dogs can learn new tricks.

I absolutely love when I get to see dogs that have been through my care. From where they started to where they have progressed to is such a beautiful feeling. Lots of blood sweat and tears go into these guys but this smile right here, is why I do what I do. It’s the gift that keeps on giving ♥️

Remember Ellie Belly? She stopped by to say hello 👋🏻 and she was SO excited to see all her familiar faces, human & dog friends. Now she is all cozied up under my feet where she used to sit the most. Must feel like nostalgia.

Here is something from the vulnerability vault & raw truth. Take note 📝

Any of my long-term clients know that I’ve always had my kids with me even when I am working & this will probably never change.

I strongly believe that no one can attend to my kids as good as I can. This does not stem from pride. This is a true statement based on the foundation of past trauma and experiences.  I will not go into detail as I should not have to explain myself.

Yes! My kids will be in attendance to trainings, group classes, private sessions & in home sessions. Not always but chances are high that you will meet them at some point, especially Hallie-Mae. She has an absolutely uncanny ability to work with dogs and she is more help than harm - always - many adults learn a lot from her as well. They are very well mannered and stay out of the way. Often times the prefer to stay in the car for private sessions but if they are there, please understand its because they dont want to be left alone.

They are some of my best help & biggest fans.

I give her guardian instincts a 10/10! This Gracie girl (Neo/Corso mix) was so upset by something that she kept coming in and out of boarding to paw at me and run out to see if I was following. I didnt follow for a couple attempts but I grew concerned why she was getting so worked up (no she didnt even bark!) I came out and said “show me” she ran to the fence and hoped on it then made sure that I was connecting everything.

She definitely got some serious praise and love for being SO DILIGENT.

Cows out is never good & we don’t even own cows 😂
