This is an exercise I picked up from Dusty Whitford to prepare a c**t for their first ride and it makes sense because, a horse generally has a fit when they take that first step with you on them so why not completely take that out of them before you’re all the way on! Yes we want them to stand still to be mounted, but this is a great exercise to prep them for that first ride, also notice how I let her move around while I was petting her all over and then when she quit moving her feet I stepped off to reward her! Groundwork is vital for keeping us safe and helping the horses have confidence when we start riding them because we have already done everything from the ground and now we’re just transferring it to the saddle!

This sweet little 3 year old mustang sure is coming along nice! First time seeing cows and she loved it! I love taking these c**ts out and exposing them to all sorts of things, if you give these young horses the right tools from the beginning new things come so much easier to them!

First time in the cart for this awesome gypsy stud and he was great! I love how different every horse in my program is but the foundation is always the same.

When this filly came in she wasn’t comfortable in her own skin she was terrified of everything. The first day I put her in the round pen anytime I would apply any pressure at all her first reaction was to try to jump the round pen, she barely led and wanted nothing to do with humans! She’s taken a lot of extra time and work and has been one that keeps me up at night trying to think of different approaches, but in the last few days she has really came around and became more confident and quiet!

I’m so happy with how this 3 year old gelding is coming along he’s sure been a fun one! He’s going home this weekend and will continue on being an all around using horse! Thank you Leann Jones for trusting me and my program with this awesome boy!

This cool 10 year old stud is remembering everything very well! He hasn’t been rode in a long time so I took some time to go back to the basics before we started riding him! He’s going to be a good one for sure! He’s such a quiet good minded stud!
