In the silent language of dogs,
There's more than meets the eye,
For every wag of tail or bark,
Holds secrets we can't deny.
With ears raised high, they're alert,
Excited or perhaps afraid,
Their eyes speak volumes too,
In the language we must grade.
A tilted head means curiosity,
A sign of pure intrigue,
While baring teeth, a warning,
To back off, we must heed.
A paw placed gently on our lap,
Is an invitation to play,
And when they lick their lips,
It's their way to say "okay".
Scratching the ground with their paws,
Is more than just a dance,
It's their way to mark their scent,
And claim their little stance.
A lowered head and crouched stance,
Means they're feeling shy,
Or showing submission,
To a higher rank, they imply.
A wag of tail can mean pure joy,
Or that they're feeling scared,
And when it's tucked between their legs,
It's vulnerability they've bared.
For every dog, the language is unique,
And it takes time to understand,
But when we do, a bond is formed,
That's unbreakable, hand in hand.
So let's learn the language of our furry friends,
And see the world through their eyes,
For they speak without a single word,
But their body never lies.
