ASSISTED ADOPTION: Mookie is a 5 and 1/2 yr old rescued border / Aussie cattle dog mix. I adopted him from a shelter in San Diego Co. He had lived in shelters for his first full 2 years when I got him.
He bonded immediately with my other ACD / Boxer mix. We lived in Idyllwild on a fenced 1/2 acre and had daily miles long runs and adventures hiking in all types of weather. Mookie loves each season, whether splashing through streams and hunting
lizards or catching snowflakes. Fir 3 years my young granddaughter treated him as her very own. They snuggled and slept together.
Then there was a sudden change in circumstances. My son died, his daughter was relocated out of the country, and I needed to immediately move away to tend to the health care of family out of state.
While I was able to take my registered service dog with me on the move to the city, unfortunately, Mookie needed to stay behind.
My home was leased to a woman who felt she could care for Mookie right there on the property to alleviate more disruption. It seemed the best solution available. At the time.
She has just informed me she is unable to care for this dog, or any dog, due to certain job requirements.
Mookie needs a new placement. He loves to interact with other dogs. Although he has had trauma from being attacked while on leash by other off-leash dogs, he is playful and greeting of dogs, especially when both are off leash.
He has energy…loves to run run run.
He’s extremely smart, can open any door with a lever handle, to go in or out. ( beware!)
My granddaughter treasured him and I dearly love this dog.
We want him to have the happy life he deserves.
Please HELP.
