We currently have a balance at the vet of $922.

We have 2 cats going in for dentals on the 28th.

We have 3 other cats waiting on their turns but we need to get the balance paid off first.

When you do tnr, so many other medical issues come up and we have to be prepared to tackle whatever the cats may need. From hernias (we had 2 last week), fip treatment, amputations, eye removals (one possibly coming up), sicknesses that require more/after care, emergencies, etc. There is always so much more than just the spay/neuter.

Our TNR appointments are covered for this week but we really really need help with the balance at the vet.

If you prefer to make a payment directly to the vet, that's amazing and we prefer that too! If you have trouble getting through, just leave a message and they will call back.

📣 FREE NECROPSY SERVICE for cats 👈

As cat lovers and caretakers, there comes a time when we lose one of our animals -- whether it's a cat we've just come into contact with or one we've been attending to for years. Sometimes, the cause of death is clear; sometimes it's not. Many times, a necropsy is cost prohibitive. We're happy to share with you a FREE RESOURCE for finding some answers.

Dr. Adam Stern, a veterinarian, veterinary pathologist and Professor of Forensic Pathology at the University of Florida, recently asked us to share information regarding his program, 'A Cat Has No Name.' This is a FREE program designed to determine the cause of death of free-roaming cats and simultaneously help live cats, particularly when there are multiple sick and deceased cats living together. His department provides FREE diagnostic services for cat colonies to improve their overall welfare. This program is OPEN TO ALL community cats and ALL PEOPLE in ALL STATES. You do not need to work in animal welfare to submit a cat; they will also accept cats from colony caretakers and individuals.

For more information or to submit a cat, contact Dr. Stern at [email protected] or call 352-294-4077. Save or download the flyer below so you have this information at your fingertips when you need it.

Goal reached!! Thank you all so much ❤️

‼️WOW, Double Donations of $1500‼️

We have an anonymous donor that will match $1500 in donations IF we can raise $1500 by Monday, February 5th! $1500 would turn into $3000!

We could pay down a lot of bills with that! It would be a huge help and also take care of the storage unit fees for February.

$5 = $10, $10 = $20, $100 = $200!

‼️TNR Fundraiser‼️

We are raising funds for our TNR program for the remainder of the month of February. February 2nd is already covered. TNR is currently booked out through March.

We are able to take 10 cats into the clinic every Friday. This fundraiser is to cover Feb 9th, 16th, and 23rd. This would be a total of 30 cats @ $55 per cat for a total of $1650.

Our TNR program services the Capac, Imlay City, Yale areas. We are a small group and choose to help our local community to maximize our impact.

All cats we be spayed/neutered, vaccinated for rabies and fvrcp. We provide transportation to and from the clinic in Flint. We supply all trapping equipment.

Just $55 will fix and vaccinate an at risk cat!

No donation is too small. We appreciate every single dollar and it all adds up.

Who do we help? Anyone in our local area with stray or feral cats or folks who can't afford to fix their indoor pet cats that are at risk of breeding or being surrendered.

Unfortunately we are unable to intake any cats at this time.

We wouldn't be able to do this without your support and appreciate you all very much for helping us accomplish our goal of slowing down the cat overpopulation problem.

If you can help this little guy, please do🙏🤞🏼He’s been through so much and is a little fighter❤️💔

Update: bloodwork confirmed it is FIP

Unfortunately we believe that Ronnie has FIP :( His doctor gave us the go ahead to start him on the 12 week course of meds last night. Often times surgeries, vaccines and other stressors can cause these underlying auto immune diseases to present themselves. Ronnie started to decline shortly after his leg surgery. He had been dealing with fevers, anemia, lethargy, and lack of appetite. We have done x-rays and ultrasounds. Tried a plethora of medications and blood tests. All signs point to FIP. This stinks but we know we can fix this and that Ronnie will get through it. Ronnie got his first injection last night and did fine. Only 11 weeks and 6 days left to go!

Cassie is on the tail end of her treatment and thankfully we had the meds on hand but we will need to place another order asap to replace Cassies meds and get a few weeks worth for Ronnie.

We need to raise about $400 asap to get more of the meds ordered. If you can help, please consider a small paypal donation so we can get these ordered right away paypal.me/CapacAnimalGuardians

2 weeks of medicine ordered. 12 weeks worth needed.

Poor Ronnie has been through so much! We hope he will start feeling better quickly just like Cassie did.

Thank you for reading ❤️

If anyone suspects their cat may have FIP, join this group and the mods will help you https://www.facebook.com/groups/fipwarriorsoriginal/?ref=share&mibextid=Ehojnz

Paid in full, thank you!

‼️TNR funds needed‼️

We are raising funds for 10 cats to be fixed and vaccinated on 2/2. $55 per cat.

We are working through our backlog of cats that have a warm, indoor place to recover since it's way too cold to put cats fresh out of surgery back outside right now.

We also have a colony of 10 barn cats that need to be tnr'd asap.

After that is a colony of kitties for a friend in Brown City.

TNR is already booked up through March, assuming we can raise the funds needed every week and no more mega huge vet bills.

Thank you for your support. We absolutely could not do this without donations 🙏❤️🐈‍⬛

📚 Our BACK TO BASICS SERIES: FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus)

FeLV is a common infectious disease, specific to cats, that impairs a cat's immune system. It can cause cancer and leaves the cat susceptible to illness. There is no cure.

**LINKS TO MORE INFORMATION ABOUT FeLV CAN BE FOUND IN THE COMMENTS BELOW THIS POST.**

🔶Quick facts:
➡FeLV is transmitted through the saliva, nasal secretions, urine, f***s, and milk of infected cats.
➡Direct contact with these bodily fluids, mutual grooming, shared litter boxes and food dishes, and bite wounds all expose uninfected cats to the virus.
➡A vaccine is available but not 100% effective.
➡An infected cat can be asymptomatic and live a NORMAL LIFE for a prolonged period of time!
➡FeLV is quickly diagnosed through a blood test.
➡FeLV is NOT transmissible to humans or other animals.
➡If you have an indoor/outdoor cat, you risk its FeLV status every time it goes outdoors.
➡In the U.S., approximately 4% percent of cats are infected with FeLV.

📢 EDUCATION IS KEY!!!!!
➡FeLV+ cats are EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to adopt out because many people are uneducated about FeLV.
➡FeLV+ cats are often immediately euthanized, even though they show NO SIGNS of illness. 💔 Stop unnecessary euthanization through education!
📢 FeLV+ cats should NOT be EUTHANIZED unless they are ill or suffering beyond what can be treated.
📢 If you're in rescue or doing TNR, please note:
➡Before you place a cat for adoption (or in a foster home with other cats), it should be tested for FeLV.
➡Adopt that cat out with full disclosure about its FeLV+ status. The adopter must be aware that the cat MAY require more veterinary care than the average house cat.
➡Beware of false positives in FeLV tests for cats of all ages.
➡To limit the spread of the disease, FeLV+ cats should be placed in homes with other FeLV+ cats or homes without cats. Or, FeLV- cats already in household could be vaccinated against the disease. Consult a vet.
➡We don't FeLV test the cats we TNR. Alley Cat Allies also holds this position.
➡ADVOCATE for FeLV+ cats! 💪

‼️TNR funds needed for 1/19‼️

$125 of $550 raised

We tentatively will have another full load of 10 kitties going to the TNR clinic to be spayed/neutered and get vaccines on Friday. We are working with kitties that have safe, warm, indoor places to recover while it's so cold out. We are helping folks that can't physically or financially do this on their own so we rely solely on donations to cover the costs at the clinic. It roughly costs $55 per cat for everything although the past 2 weeks we had a kitty that needed a hernia repaired each time which adds on extra. We give the approval to do anything they need to do while the kitties are under, because for many, this is their one and only shot at medical care.

We need to raise $550 by Thursday so we can pay for the services on Friday.

Any help is so very much appreciated. You all helped us fix over 400 cats last year! We want to do at least that many again this year 🙏
