This is leash reactivity.
Not real bad,but we want to get rid of this behavior.
My client was too late on the leash pop "leave it!" Command.
She will get better and already has.
You have to get to your dog before they react.
When you see them building.
Watch Lunas ears move forward right before she pops off and lunges.
Luna and her handler are back to continue training.
Luna is a 3 year old female thats been sequestered in a back yard most her life.
The real world is a new and challenging enviorment for her.lits of triggers and stimulation.
She is leash reactive to dogs and she has shown some aggressive tendencies with men.
So basicly the dog and handler need a lot of work.
Walking on a loose leash next to her handler is imperative.
She needs to have strong leadership and the handler also needs the leash handling skills to communicate and controll Luna.
Her handler is working hard to make this happen.
She is on disability and deals with a lot of pain.
We graduated Luna on to the baby 2.25 mm Herm Sprenger prong collar.
Total game changer for both dog and handler.
They both learned the principles of leash pressure using the mighty paws martingale collar.
Now we use about 1/20 th of the pressure we used with the martingale.
This is a small part of todays session.
Look how cute this little female is.
Arai..recently rescued.
The owner has a huge Kangle at home.
But he wasnt prepared for the" Malinois experience ".
He found us on TikTok.
His vet says shes about 11 .onths.
Its a educated guess.
I think shes closer to 9 months.
Anyways.she had some anxiety when she arrived at the park.
She had never been in a busy environment.
She has some reactivity with other dogs.
I started my building some trust with her.
Then we worked on leash handling skills and how to communicate with her.
We used a Mighty Paws martingale collar for this.
Teaching the principles of leash pressure.
She had no ball drive at this point and wasn't taking treats.so we used physical praise and stroking as a reward for the correct behaviors.
Trying to build engagement with the handler.
It was a tuff session because of these factors.they came from far aways so i spent extra time in our session.
1 1/2 hours.
Towards the end she and her handler showed great improvement.
This video shows the techniques we use to teach the dog how to turn off the pressure and walk on a loose lead.
The u turns are very effective..but the handler needs to say "this way" before every directional change.to be fair to the dog.
After awhile they learn ,when they hear daddy say" this way" then start anticipating hes going to turn.
Teaching Arai the principles of leash pressure.
Malinois are like bunnies.
They can hop.
Malinois Luna .part 2.
40 minutes into the first session.
No more pulling and were working on proactive and premptive solutions to the dog reactivity.
4 year old malinois Luna.part 1.
Before training begins.

Im happy to introduce Luna.
A approximately 3 to 4 year old malinois rescue.
Shes very sweet but she was stuck in a back yard with an Akita packmate.
She didn't get out at all in the real world.
I look forward to helping her and her handler,Heather.
