It all started with an idea, from our fearless leader, owner and trainer, Melissa, which has grown into an INCREDIBLE training facility, an AMAZING community and a safe space for FUN growth and exploration!

The amazing people at Goose Creek Airport have partnered with Hurricane Helene Airlift Relief!

Hurricane Helene Airlift Relief is the pilot group formed at Statesville Airport that has been the central hub accepting and flying out donations.

Goose Creek Airport is accepting donations but
THEY NEED VOLUNTEERS!
Even if you only have an hour to donate- they will take it!

Every item donated needs to be weighed, tagged, and loaded onto planes.

Zoom Room Indian Trail is accepting donations for Western NC Hurricane Helene relief

To say the devastation in Western NC is heart breaking is an understatement. Many of our mountain neighbors have lost everything.

Private plane and helicopter pilots in the region have quickly formed a group based at Statesville Airport where they are accepting donations and flying them directly to the counties in need.

Zoom Room Indian Trail is a donation collection point for these efforts. Owner, Melissa will make the first trip to Statesville Airport on Wednesday morning (10/2) with a second trip taking place on Friday (10/4).

If you are in a position to donate, please take a look at the list in this post and bring your donations to Zoom Room Indian Trail any time we are open.

🐾 It's Fact Friday! 🐾

Before walking your pup across asphalt or concrete, are you doing the 5 second rule? Direct sun on these surfaces can make them extremely hot- too hot to walk on! ☀️ Put your hand on the ground and try to hold it there for 5 seconds. If it's too hot and you can't, it's too hot for your pup! 🐶 Either pick them up or walk them on a cooler surface such as grass or mulch!

The best skill you can teach your dog NOW is... ✨TOUCH! This skill allows you to get the attention/focus of your dog, get your dog next to you in any situation that you may need it. For example: You can ask for a "touch" to get your dog in the car, or get your dog on the scale at the vet. A cute trick but with MANY real world applications! TO TEACH IT: STEP 1: Take a stinky treat and rub it in the palm of your left hand. Hold the actual treat in your right hand. STEP 2: Offer your left palm to your dog. Your dog will smell and come closer to your hand. As soon as their nose touches your hand, click or give verbal marker (like "YES!") and offer them the treat in your right hand. STEP 3: Repeat 5 or more times without any verbal cues. Reward each time. STEP 4: Once your dog replicates the behavior at least 5 times with no cues, offer your palm and say "touch". Continue rewarding and practicing! 🐾 Does your dog know "touch"? Drop a 🙌 in the comments for YES Drop a ♥️ in the comments for NO and start training! 😉

Both living with an unruly pup AND training can be frustrating... WE KNOW! But remember your dog is not trying to give you a hard time, they're having a hard time! And trying to do the best they can with what they currently know and have available to them! So... Be patient! Love on them! Bring them on in to Zoom Room Indian Trail to get started in Obedience, Puppy Preschool, Agility, Tricks or Puplates classes (or a mix!) and remember to be consistent! You got this, dog mom/dad! 🐾

✨Trying to work on training with your dog but they keep losing interest or are flat out not listening to you? Whether your pup shows ADHD-like behaviors like inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity or is straight up in puppy mode, here are 4 things you can do to help with gaining and keeping your dog's attention 👇 1️⃣Reward them with what they love (NOT what you love it what ever other dog seems to love. Will your dog do anything for a specific type of treat? Toy? Tennis ball? THAT'S their reward!) 2️⃣Reinforce the correct behavior heavily in the beginning. Every time they do the thing you want, REWARD! 3️⃣Be consistent with cues you are using. Use the same word and/or hand gesture every time. 4️⃣Speak clearly. Helpful? Drop a 🐾 below! The AG weaves milestone is awarded when your pup can proficiently perform 6 weave poles without guide wires or channels and knows the correct entries! While having a party, there are a couple important things to keep in mind. - Make sure your pup has their own space! Not only do they need a spot to relax, but they need a safe space as well. 😴 Can a guest go to the wrong door and accidentally let them out? - If your pup is mingling with your guests, is there any chance they could get ahold of human food or drinks that may be dangerous? Be sure everyone knows to not feed your pup food from the table! 🍕🍔🌭🥤 - Is your party ahead of nightime celebrations where your pup could overheat having fun in the sun? ☀️ Be sure to set them up for success!
