Appreciation post for our friends/partners at Indianapolis Animal Urgent Care for the care they helped us provide to Lady Bug today.
I (David) typically fly by the seat of my pants and so grateful every day that I have a wife who keeps me in line, today was no different. I went about this morning acting like it’s every other Monday, and at 11:30 emailed IAUC to let them know that I was on my way with Lady Bug needing the antibody injection. I tell Kelsey that I’m about to get up and leave and she says, “they aren’t open today, honey. It’s Memorial Day!”
I instantly panic and call Angela to let her know that they are not open and that we need to come up with another plan. As I am on the phone with Angela a strange number calls in, since I didn’t recognize the number I didn’t answer. I immediately got another call so I put Angela on hold and answer the phone, to my surprise it’s Dr. Murphy on the other end. “Hey David, it’s Dr. Murphy from IAUC, I got your email about the parvo puppy and we want to help. We are closed today, but I can meet you at the clinic at 12:15 if you’re able?”
I quickly got ready and headed to our building to pick up ladybug and to rush her to the clinic. Needless to say, I probably could’ve qualified for the race yesterday. Dr. Murphy, Dr. Ryan, Cass, and Nick met me at the back door, and immediately got to business. We visit them frequently, so the whole team knows me by name, I always feel like I am on an episode of Cheers when I walk in.
Angela and I cannot say enough good things about this clinic. They are a group of compassionate animal lovers who go above and beyond to save animals and tolerate their humans. The entire time the team is working on getting her all set up, Dr. Murphy is answering the phone pointing people on the other line in different directions, calling in scripts, the whole shebang even though they are technically closed. Very respectable if you ask me, knowing that there are animals potentially with life-threatening issues and willing to help instead of saying “we’re closed!”
Lady Bug received 2 vials of the antibody, a Cerenia injection, and is already doing a little better! She has an isolation suite at Angela‘s place and is expected to make a full recovery! We could not have made today happen without everyone’s generosity, you quite literally saved her life. 🫶🏼🫶🏼
