"She's not even the same dog!" - An employee at Three Dog Bakery Indianapolis π₯°π₯°π₯°
People are taking notice of Raven's training. Here she is holding a down-stay in the presence of another dog. She even actively stops looking at it to focus on me.
Dog-Dog reactivity is one of the most difficult behaviors to change in a dog. It's anxiety inducing for them, making it anxiety inducing for us. We have put a lot of time and work into Raven's training.
Keys to Raven's success?

Broad Ripple side streets are still yuck. Training at @petpeoplestores today! πππ
Raven is learning to be less reactive and more relaxed in high stress environments. Did you know the Pet Store can sometimes be overwhelming for dogs? The smells of other dogs, food and other items along with loud noises can sometimes cause stress.
This is exactly why Raven is here. Criteria in dog training is incredibly important, and a walk around the neighborhood is no longer an issue (other than ice π₯Ά), so it was time to up the ante!
Training in environments that your dog finds difficult can be challenging at first. I recommend bringing whatever your dog finds rewarding with you and practicing engagement and cues while you're there. A focused dog is a successful dog!

I'm super excited to announce that I will be volunteering with Freedom K9 Project ππΎ
Meet Sam. He is a soon to be a PTSD Service Dog for a survivor of domestic abuse or sex trafficking. I will be handling him and another doggo a couple times a month at various locations, such as the gym, grocery stores, hair salons, you name it.
Sam will be doing a very important job. Did you know a Service Dog HAS to perform tasks? One of those tasks is alerting to anxiety.
Here Sam is alerting to hyperventilating and leg shaking. He follows up with some hugs for deep pressure therapy and receives all the praise for being the goodest boy.
I'm thrilled to know I'll be helping people by helping these dogs. Can't wait to see how they continue to progress. π
WORKING DOGS AT WORK π₯°π₯°π₯°
Did you know the a working breed dog thrives when given a job to do? Heelers are high drive working dogs, so Birdie and Murphy's mom likes to work them every morning.
Here we are working on the dogs being able to work at the same time without having any guarding issues. They did an excellent job!
Keeping your dog stimulated and working on training helps create a relationship and a happier overall dog!

Now that it's Spring again, let's get those dogs out walking! Here's Izzy learning to walk on a nice loose leash while still getting to enjoy the sights and sounds on her walk. Izzy has problems with reactivity, so she also gets lots of treats while walking to help her see value in staying with us. Her family absolutely rocked their lesson today. Way to go guys!

Training doesn't always have to be all obedience and manners! Tricks are a great way for dogs to gain confidence and have fun! In this video, we used a broomstick to teach Samwise to jump "over" things! He had a wonderful time. πΎ
