Savie is a stray that needs immediate medical care in Martin County Ky. The Bill Johannes Memorial Project is donating $250 towards her vet care and Tails and Trails Rescue will take her under their wing. The eye removal is $750. To donate zelle to 317-445-3544.

“Today I adopted a human. It broke my heart to see him so lonely and confused. And suddenly I got his teary eyes to meet mine. I don't like the smell of sad. I wanted to jump on him so bad. He spoke to me with cuteness and I knew it, I had to rescue him!, that human needed me. So I bark with all my strength, I followed him blocks and blocks.

I got close, I could smell his hands. The human smiled for an instant and when he took me in his arms, I started to feel his ice cream heart warmed. I approached his cheeks and felt a tear roll on them. I looked at him deeply and his response was a brilliant smile. I jumped excited into his arms, I promised to behave, love him forever and never part with his side.

How lucky he was to go through that block, down that street and I feel lucky too.
There were so many people walking around and no one was looking at me. All worried, all in their troubles. Glad no one else chose me Today I saved a life. Today I adopted a human” 🐾 🐕

When one life ends, another begins.
Booker recently died unexpectedly and left his mom Jinny with a broken heart. However, a friend donated towards Gypsie's pups born yesterday. This little one is now named George Booker- an all black beauty just like his namesake. I think Booker would approve. Our hearts go out to his mom.

When your dog comes to the dog pound because you’re tired of him, because he bothers you, prevents you from going on vacation or other excuses...
He sits and waits.
He's waiting for you to come get him.
A second, a minute, an hour, a day, a month, a year --- he's waiting for you.
He doesn’t know why, but he’s waiting because he trusts you, because unlike you, he loves you.
Listen up well then. Your animal is not a toy.
Think twice before getting a pet. You have the responsibility of a living being and of a family member.

As I tuck him in every night.
"He's not your kid."
As I make my breakfast, I scramble him up some eggies and make sure he gets the most important meal of the day.
"He's not your kid."
As I do my laundry, I make sure his blankets/jackets and beddng (he still sleeps with us every night in OUR bed) are also clean.
"He's not your kid."
As I nursed him back to his optimal health the first few months I had him.
"He's not your kid."
As I just changed my entire career and life so I could be home with him more during the days and save for our future because I was sick of seeing him so sad on the furbo.
"He's not your kid."
As I hang his coat/blanket (one of many) on the coat hanger next to ours.
"He's not your kid."
As I pick up all his toys and place them back on his bed for him to through them everywhere as soon as he waks up from his nap.
"He's not your kid."
As I take him out yet again to play and run in the snow while my fingers are numb but he's only a puppy for so long.
"He's not your kid."
Yea, he's not my kid.
He's my heart. My world. My baby.
And for those who can't see the similarities between a puppy and a child and for those who really think a dog is really "just a dog," you must never have found your heart dog and I pray one day, you do.

Fireworks!!!!!!

It's that time of year again where people wanna have fun with fireworks. Please keep in mind fireworks are fun and very exciting to watch. To our animals it scares them. If you do not have a collar on your dog or cat please do so. If you do not have an information tag on your dog or cat please do so or write in a black marker your phone number and dogs name. If your pet should get loose that can help us or a good Samaritan to reunite your pet to you.

Fireworks and livestocks do not mix. They are terrified of the sound and lights. If you should happen to live by a farm always check with them if your planning to do fireworks. Horses especially get hurt more being in stalls during fireworks than any other barn animals.

Also if you have a veteran that is your neighbor. Please be very respectful of them if you're planning on doing fireworks. Ask them if they are ok with the noise and flashes. Some come home with severe PTSD.

Held annually on June 21st, the choice of day may seem arbitrary until you remember that, in the northern hemisphere, it is the longest day of the year, and as Doxies have the longest body relative to their size, celebrating them on the longest day of the year seems fitting!

Look what came to Tails and Trails Resce today! Me -a Tripod. I had my back left leg amputated. I was taken out of my home along with the children due to neglect. Wouldn't it be cool if I lived in a house with a child that had a special need. You may adopt me through Tails and Trails Rescue. I came from Muncie Indiana. And live in Indy now. I am 2 years old and approximately 40 lbs.

⚠️🚙⚠️ Despite the warnings, hundreds of dogs in the U.S. die every year after being left in a hot car. Someone you know may need to read this very important message. ⚠️🚙⚠️

SIX MINUTES is all it takes for a dog to overheat in a hot car.

Your dog could suffer serious injury or die in a matter of minutes if left alone in a car.

• The temperature inside a closed vehicle left in the sun can double within 12 minutes.

• At least 75% of the temperature increase in a closed vehicle occurs within 5 minutes of closing the vehicle, and at least 89% of the temperature increase occurs within 15 minutes of closing the vehicle.

• Temperatures exceeding 104˚ F can lead to death or serious injury for the occupants.

• Temperatures in a closed vehicle sitting in the hot sun can reach 160˚F and above. An animal will suffer immeasurably and may die before the temperature reaches 150˚F.

• Even when parked in the shade, the vehicle temperatures can exceed 104˚C.

• Leaving windows down more than 2 inches on an unattended vehicle will not prevent a car from reaching extreme temperatures.

• Even if the animal is revived, they can die due to severe internal organ damage.

Your dog trusts you to have their best interest at heart ALWAYS.
Please don’t risk their safety.

If you are not taking your dog inside your destination with you, PLEASE leave them at home where they are comfortable and safe.
