Ava - 2.5 yr old intact AKC Belgian Malinois
Looking for an active pet home sport home for her, other than protection.
We have been working on her pdc in PSA but I’ve come to grips shes not going to be a high level dog. My mentors believe we can get her through the 1s but not sure how long it will take.
In protection, she has some environmentals to overcome, cans & gunfire. Her grip is a little weak. We done a lot to improve it, but not to what I like.
I’ve really just been doing PSA with her to keep her active, have something to do with her and it’s what I do. If I was purchasing her right now, it’s not the area I would I put her in.
I think the would do good in agility, barn hunt, fast cat etc… she’s a fun little dog
-She has off leash obedience, sensitive to the ecollar (typically 4 on dogtra 280c)
-she picks up on tricks pretty quickly
-she is not a pack dog. She typically will not rush a dog, but will tell a dog to get away from her very quickly.
-she does good with one of females, males if they are not pushy.
-I have older children, she does good with. I don’t know that I would fully trust her with young kids. I’ve never put her in that situation.
-she could be a faster dog. I’m just newer, so a little slower handler
Akela, Handler Attack
Training a German Shepherd for patrol involves teaching them various skills, including obedience, scent detection, and protection. Handlers use specialized techniques to simulate attacks during training, ensuring the dog responds appropriately to threats. Consistent practice, positive reinforcement, and a strong bond between the handler and the dog are essential for effective patrol training.

Chevy
Check out Chevy! He was here in May for some basic puppy manners and potty training routine!

Well, he’s back!!! Chevy will be with us for 6 weeks for our off leash training! To say I was taken by surprise of his size is an understatement! No more tiny puppy! But we are excited to get to work with him again!
Persistence is key
Just By refusing to pick up the ball when dropping it at my feet, she’s learned to bring it to my lap 😍 & here I thought I was going to teach her to be chill inside. 🤦🏼♀️
Meet Blu! He came to us for dog aggression. His owner has not been able to walk him and he’s had 2 bite histories.

This is his first time training with another dog without a muzzle. He’s still uneasy but he is controllable.
•
We’ve put in A LOT of work and I am proud of him!
Here's my first ever intro video I've created!
Sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly. Happy to see she’s making progress

Day 1 on Imprinting Ava.
-Ava will be detecting Narcotics. With all that is going on with marijuana, we have chose to not imprint her on it. So we will have one that is not, if needed.
-I’m very excited to see all of this unfold with her as I am falling more in love with detection work every day.
