Cat Care By Catkin

Cat Care By Catkin Hello, I'm Catkin! I have 20+ years of pet sitting experience, with an emphasis on cats. πŸˆβ™ΏπŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ–€βœŠ Website coming soon! =^.,.^=

I have 15 years of pet sitting experience, with an emphasis on cats and their unique needs. I have also worked as a veterinary kennel tech/cat caregiver, a shelter feline animal care technician, a shelter cat adoptions counselor, and a pet retail associate. For over a decade, I oversaw the care of an outdoor community cat colony that lived on my property, and I also volunteered for local rescues a

nd fostered kittens and cats, including mothers with young kittens as well as hospice cats with cancer and other terminal conditions. I have a soft spot for "challenging" cats and earned a reputation for rehabilitating cats with complex medical and behavioral conditions. I am experienced at dispensing medications, giving subcutaneous fluids, and checking blood glucose in diabetic cats and giving them insulin. I've also cared for cats of all ages, from neonatal kittens to geriatric cats. Currently, I share my home with six cats, from age one to sixteen years, and I also work as an administrative assistant at the IU School of Nursing. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my cats, bird watching, nature walks, reading, and writing (blog coming soon!). In order to better serve my clients, I plan to continue my training and education. Cats are amazing creatures, and there's always something new to learn about them and their care. Feline enrichment is important to me, and I'll be sure to respect your cat's space, boundaries, and routines. If they consent, I'll provide enrichment time through play and petting, but if that's not their thing, that's totally fine! If you'd like to learn more about me and how I can give your cat their own "stay-cation" while you travel, please call or text me at (317) 401-9690 or email me at [email protected].

Did you know that I also care for porch cats and outdoor feral cat colonies? I've cared for colony cats since the early 2000s, and I have a soft spot for the ear tipped community cats who share our neighborhoods. TNR (trap-neuter-return) with oversight by caretakers saves lives!

This outdoor boy is Sir Cornelius Flake, an outdoor cat who occasionally visits my porch. I hope to TNR him soon.

Stihl recently passed away. Her family is devastated, as she was their baby for around 18 years. I will miss visiting her. Stihl was an independent lady who didn't want me to pet her, but she was so elegant and I loved watching her go about her business while looking like the queen she definitely was. Deepest condolences to Stihl's family. I feel honored that I got to spend time with this lovely girl. πŸˆβ€β¬›πŸ’œπŸŒˆ

I offer a free meet and greet and always spend a minimum of one hour with your kitties. I bring decades of feline experience, including medical support such as diabetes care, giving subcutaneous fluids therapy, etc. I specialize in cats but can also care for other species on a case-by-case basis.

I look forward to meeting you and your pets! 😺

Keep your cats safe tonight with all the noise. 😺

Hey Gang The 4th of July might be a celebration for us humans, but it can be terrifying for our animal companions. πŸ˜ΏπŸŽ†

Loud fireworks, strange noises, and unexpected chaos can leave cats (and all other animals) feeling extremely stressed. Here’s how to help:

βœ”οΈ Keep them indoors
βœ”οΈ Mask the noise with TV or music
βœ”οΈ Create a safe, cozy space to hide
βœ”οΈ Check their ID tags and microchips
βœ”οΈ Use calming aids like Stress Stopper
βœ”οΈ Skip the fireworks and stay home

Your presence and preparation can make all the difference for the animals you love. ❀️

Happy Spring, Cat Lovers! 🌷

Little Onyx here wants to say that he would love for you to hire me to care for your kitties this Spring and Summer. Onyx was rescued from a local feral colony and joined our family around the holidays. He was scared at first, but with time and patience he's playing with the big cats and learning how to "indoor cat"! πŸ₯°

I'm now based on the southeast side of Indianapolis near University Heights, Garfield Park, Southport, and Fountain Square, but I still serve the east side (Irvington, Emerson Heights, Warren Township, etc.), downtown, and other locations on a case-by-case basis. Existing east side clients will continue to pay my old fee of $30 per visit, with new clients outside my new service area paying $35 per visit. Clients within my service area pay $30 per visit.

What I offer you as a cat sitter:

πŸˆβ€β¬› Nearly 40 years of cat caregiving experience, many of those years working in cat rescue and fostering, community cat TNR and colony management, pet retail, veterinary kennel work, and animal shelter kennel work and cat adoption counseling.

πŸˆβ€β¬› Personalized cat-focused care. I go beyond basic care (food, water, and litter) and can offer environmental enrichment (playtime, petting, light grooming, etc.), medical care (medications, fluids, diabetes care), and consent driven interactions (I respect that not all cats desire interaction, and I also go along with the cat's pace and comfort level). My visits are a minimum of one hour but can occasionally go over if required for your cats' care. I do not charge for going over an hour.

πŸˆβ€β¬› Trust and Respect. I understand that you want your home and your pets to be safe and cared for, so I offer additional support which can include daily text updates with pictures and videos, turning lights off and on, bringing in mail, checking locks and alarms, etc.

πŸˆβ€β¬› A professional who values growth in my knowledge and skills. Last year, I joined Pet Sitters International, and I hope to soon take the PSI certified pet sitter exam and also do training in other areas such as the Fear Free method.

Please reach out today to book a free meet and greet in your home. I look forward to meeting you and your cats! 😻

Ask "consent" before petting or picking up a cat. This simple gesture can go a long way in building trust.
