Senior dogs across the country are being abandoned, surrendered, or overlooked simply because of their age. But not on our watch.

What started in Indiana has now grown into a multi-state lifeline. Silver Snout Senior Dog Rescue is proudly rescuing seniors from Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and Southwest Florida—dogs who need medical care, stability, and someone to believe their lives still matter.

And thanks to our incredible supporters and partnerships, including rescue transport through Southwest Airlines’ SWATT program, more senior dogs than ever are being flown to safety and placed on a path toward healing, rehabilitation, and adoption.

Milo came to us at our Venice, FL Silver Snout location with a brand-new diabetes diagnosis. His previous family shared that he was having frequent accidents and peeing all over the house. But look at him now!

In just one week, with a few diet changes and some careful insulin tweaking, Milo is very proud to announce…

✨ In Loving Memory of Bruce ✨

12/5/23 – 11/27/25 living his best, most spoiled life with his forever-in-every-way family ❤️🌈

Today, our hearts are heavy as we share that our beloved Bruce — known fondly as , Sir Drama Llama, Land Seal, and occasionally Potato — crossed the Rainbow Bridge Thursday morning. He left this world wrapped in love, held closely by his very best friend Josh and his devoted “spare human” Kate.

Bruce wasn’t just fostered.
He was claimed, cherished, and fully adopted in spirit.
Josh and Kate didn’t just offer him a temporary soft place to land — they became his true family, loving him through every moment, every quirk, and every challenge. They gave him a life richer and more joyful than he had ever known. We are endlessly grateful for the way they loved him. Truly, they were his people.

Bruce had a long list of favorites:
🚗 Car rides with his best friend
🍽 Bites (because every meal deserved its own celebration)
🥦 Snackies — especially broccoli and blueberries
🛏 His heated blankie
🤗 Snuggles
🚶‍♂️ “Walks,” sometimes so short they barely counted
🛒 And the “car washes” and outrageous amounts of goodies his spare human spoiled him with

He loved visiting his friends at Lebanon Veterinary Clinic, Scenthound, and City Dogs Grocery, charming everyone he met and collecting not just treats — but hearts.

He is survived by:

❤️ His spare human, Kate
❤️ Grandma Jane
❤️ Uncle Brett
❤️ Aunties Robin & Heather
❤️ And an entire village of friends who adored him

Bruce, thank you for letting all of us love you. Thank you for the laughs, the nicknames, the drama-llama antics, and the memories that will forever make us smile. We take comfort knowing you crossed over held tightly by your people — the ones who made sure your final chapter was filled with warmth, comfort, dignity, and pure joy.

Today, our hearts are overflowing with gratitude. 🤎

To our volunteers who show up—day after day—with open hands, open hearts, and the belief that every senior dog deserves love… thank you.
To our fosters who make room in their homes and their lives for dogs who need them most… thank you.
To our donors, supporters, and prayer warriors who stand behind our mission even through the hard seasons… thank you.

And to our senior and special-needs dogs—who teach us resilience, forgiveness, joy, and unconditional love—you are the heart of this rescue.

This year hasn’t been easy. We’ve seen heartbreak, miracles, emergent saves, tearful goodbyes, and beautiful second chances. Through it all, our Silver Snout family has shown up in the most incredible ways.

💔 EMERGENCY INTAKE: Meet Leah 💔
Today we welcomed sweet Leah under unexpected and urgent circumstances. Her owner reached out asking for help—he was struggling to care for her, and while we initially arrived prepared to offer resources, it became clear very quickly that this was an emergent situation.

After a heartfelt conversation, her owner agreed it was best for Leah to come with us. He was emotional, embarrassed that things had gotten this bad, and deeply bonded to her. And while he should have reached out sooner, we want to be very clear:

✨ He did the right thing by asking for help.
✨ There is absolutely no room for shaming here.
✨ Compassion saves lives… judgment does not.

Our team gently carried Leah to our vehicle and headed straight to the rescue center, where volunteers were waiting to bathe her, clean her wounds, and get her settled safely. She currently cannot put weight on her front leg and has several open sores and concerning masses. Despite all of this, Leah is nothing but sweetness and love. ❤️

She will need extensive veterinary care, and we will keep everyone updated every step of the way as we fight to get her feeling better.

Please keep Leah in your thoughts tonight—and remember, when someone asks for help, even late… they still chose kindness.

UPDATE ON YVONNE 💛✨

Our sweet Yvonne had her much-needed dental surgery yesterday, and to say the anesthesia hit her good would be an understatement. 😅 This tiny girl was out cold and finally able to rest without the constant pain she’s been living with.

The vet removed all but 7 teeth, and although that sounds scary, this is exactly what she needed to begin truly healing. She’s resting comfortably today, snoozing the day away, and already looking more relaxed.

The next phase of her journey?
✔️ Putting on weight
✔️ Building much-needed muscle
✔️ Finally living pain-free and comfortable
✔️ Thriving the way she deserves

Thank you to everyone who has been praying, donating, and cheering her on. This fragile little soul is safe, loved, and on her way to better days. 💛🐾

Meet our newest Silver Snout, Milo — an adorable 8-year-old Pomeranian who was recently diagnosed with diabetes. 💛

Despite everything he’s going through, Milo is still the life of the party. He loves attention, loves people, and has already made it clear that belly rubs are his love language.

This week, Milo will be visiting our vet so we can begin his journey toward a healthier life. With proper diabetes management, a strict diet, and safe weight loss, we know this little guy will be feeling so much better soon. Once his levels are regulated and he’s stable, Milo will be ready for adoption into a loving forever home.

✨ $5 Friday for Yvonne ✨

We got the green light for Yvonne’s much-needed dental surgery, and our vet can get her in this Tuesday. 🙌❤️

While we have two other pups who will also need dentals soon, Yvonne’s is truly a matter of life and death. This sweet girl cannot eat without wincing in pain—every attempt ends with the food falling from her mouth. She deserves relief, comfort, and a chance to finally enjoy a meal without suffering.

At Silver Snout Senior Dog Rescue, there is nothing more rewarding than watching a dog’s true personality peek through once they’re finally safe, seen, and cared for. 💛

Randy-Patrick and Yvonne both spent time with our groomer and our vet this week, and the transformation has already begun. Both pups have been started on pain medication, and it’s incredible what a little comfort can do.

Sweet Yvonne has some of the worst teeth our team has ever seen. It’s no wonder this tiny girl is skin and bones—every time she tries to take a bite of food, she winces in pain and it falls from her mouth. 💔 Her bloodwork will be back tomorrow, and we’re praying she’s healthy enough for the dental surgery she desperately needs.

Randy-Patrick is battling a severe skin infection. He’s now on antibiotics and will need baths every 2–3 days with prescription shampoo to help soothe and heal his fragile skin. Even so, his little tail still tries its best to wag.

These two are resilient, gentle souls who have endured far more than any animal ever should… yet all they want is love. And now, they’re finally getting it. ❤️

Thank you for being part of their healing. Our seniors deserve the world—and together, we’re giving it to them.

🐾 Welcome Randy-Patrick🐾

Meet sweet Randy-Patrick — a tiny 16-year-old soul who landed in the shelter after being found as a stray. 💔 When we picked him up, he was in heartbreaking shape. His skin infection was so severe that he was literally oozing everywhere. He has no teeth, and his little hoarse cry tells us he likely spent far too long calling out for help before he finally made it to safety.

But today… today is the start of his comeback. ❤️

As soon as he arrived, our amazing friends at Okie Dokie Grooming jumped right into action. He received a soothing medicated bath, a gentle cleanup, and a much-needed mat removal. And guess what? In just a short time, we’re already seeing that adorable personality shining through the discomfort. ✨

Randy-Patrick will be seeing our vet today, and we promise to keep you all updated on his healing journey.
