🌟 Field Trip Fun for Bernie & Buddy! 🌟
Today, two of our sweethearts, Bernie and Buddy, got to enjoy a special outing to Home Depot with one of our amazing volunteers! 🐾 They made lots of new friends and turned plenty of heads, but they’re still searching for their furever family to call their own. ❤️
Exposure is so important in helping our fosters find their perfect match, and we are beyond grateful to our volunteers who take these pups on fun excursions and to all of YOU who share their stories. Together, we can help Bernie and Buddy find the loving home they deserve!
Let’s keep the momentum going—share this post and help us spread the word! You never know who might fall in love. 🐶🐶

🚨Pledges Needed🚨 At Silver Snout Senior Dog Rescue, we’ve grown a lot over the years. We used to pull dogs from shelters and pray we could raise enough funds for their care. (Rest assured, our dogs never go without the care they need, we ALWAYS find a way!) But we realized that’s not the responsible way to rescue and adds a great deal of stress to our team. Now we make sure we have the resources in place before taking on that responsibility.
Today, we’re asking for your help to save Molly and Bubby, a sweet senior pair who were confiscated from their home with many other dogs. They’ve been spayed and neutered at the shelter, but Molly desperately needs dental work, including tooth extractions, which will cost the rescue upwards of $1,000.
We met them today, and they are incredible. Their gentle, loving nature shines through, and they deserve a comfortable retirement home where they can feel safe and loved.
We need your support to make this happen. Can you pledge a donation in the comments? Every dollar brings us closer to pulling them out of the shelter and into a brighter future.
Our goal is to raise the needed funds in the next 24-48 hours so Molly and Bubby can begin their journey to safety and love. 💕Thank you for being part of our rescue family! Together, we can give these two the second chance they deserve.

Sometimes Rescue Needs Rescued: Part 8
With 7 dogs, the family cat, and 4 of us packed into our Jeep and rental van, we hit the road for Fort Lauderdale. We knew gas was scarce—many stations were already running out. To say we were nervous would be an understatement. The last thing we needed was to run out of gas and end up riding out the storm on the side of the road in our vehicles.
Fortunately, we felt confident the rental van had enough fuel, but the Jeep was another story. After stopping at three gas stations with empty pumps, we finally found one that had gas! The line was a bit long, but not too bad. After a fill-up, we were finally headed east.
The dogs were incredibly good and patient during the drive. Ruben was a little upset, but the others stayed quiet and calm. The trip took just over 3 hours, but the first hour was especially tense as we literally had Hurricane Milton in our rearview mirror, with reports of tornadoes around us. After days of running on high adrenaline, it felt like we couldn’t get to safety fast enough.
We were blessed with a safe trip. After some creative unloading at the hotel, we finally arrived in our rooms, and for the first time in what felt like ages, we could breathe.
Stay tuned for Part 9 of our journey as we settle in and prepare for what’s next.
UPDATE (10/9 @ 2:30PM EST): Chelle and Family Have Arrived in Ft. Lauderdale
We’re relieved to share that Chelle and the family made it safely to their hotel in Ft. Lauderdale. As you can see in the video, some of the pups are enjoying their vacay a little more than others! They arrived just in time, with the storm in their rearview mirror for most of the drive.
Their original evacuation plan was to stay in a friend’s Airbnb, but we are incredibly thankful they decided to head to Ft. Lauderdale instead. A tornado went right through the area where the Airbnb is located earlier today.
We are so grateful for the support and well-wishes from everyone. Please keep them in your thoughts as the storm continues to pass.

We did it!! A 26’ moving fan full of vet supplies, dog/cat food, litter, crates, blankets, towels, laundry detergent, trash bags, paper towels, etc. left for Hendersonville, NC early this morning. Thank you to everyone who helped pull this off!!
🐾 **Walk with Whiskey!** 🐾
You may remember Whiskey, the sweet senior we pulled from a shelter last week. Whiskey was heartworm positive and at risk of being euthanized because of it. But that wasn’t going to stop us from giving this boy a second chance!
When we first met Whiskey, we quickly realized he had some… let’s say *energetic* manners—think of a bull in a china shop. But we knew he had the potential to be a perfect gentleman with the right guidance. Thankfully, our amazing trainer had an opening, and Whiskey is now in a 4-week board and train program.
Just days into his training, and we already see incredible progress. He’s walking like a true gentleman, eager to show everyone just how smart and loving he really is.
Let’s cheer Whiskey on as he continues to learn and grow! This good boy is well on his way to becoming the perfect companion. Stay tuned for more updates on his journey! 🐶🎉

PUPdate: Papaw visited our vet on Friday, and after a weekend of meds for his itchy and infected skin, he's starting to feel much better! Despite being heartworm positive, battling cancer, and having bad kidneys (per his blood work), you’d never know it. His spunky personality and love for life are really shining through! This sweet senior continues to amaze us with his resilience and spirit. 💙
Btw: Papaw was quite the contender during the watermelon eating contest at Aging Hearts Senior Dog Center this weekend! 😂
