✨ Meet Cali ✨

Sweet little Cali is one of our newest seniors, and her journey is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. After a lot of patience, gentleness, and trust-building, our amazing groomer was finally able to carefully remove the heavy mats from Cali’s face. What we discovered broke our hearts — her mouth had been partially matted shut. That explains why she hadn’t been eating much.

Once she was set free from all that painful hair, something beautiful happened… this little 5lb lady started eating like a champ. 💕 Relief, comfort, and dignity restored — one small step that means everything to a senior dog who has lived far too long without proper care.

Unfortunately, her feet are still badly matted and the hair is too tight to safely remove without causing pain. Cali will be seeing our vet today and will be sedated so those mats can be removed humanely and comfortably. This is all part of the rehabilitation process we specialize in.

At Silver Snout, we are different. We rescue the dogs no one else wants — the seniors, the neglected, the overlooked — and we take the time to heal them physically and emotionally. We peel back the layers of neglect, restore their comfort, and help them rediscover who they were always meant to be.

Cali’s story is just beginning, and her future is bright. With proper care, patience, and love, she will once again be the beautiful little soul she’s always been — and one day, she’ll find a furever home where she’s cherished for the rest of her days. 🐾💛

Thank you for standing with us and believing in second chances for seniors like Cali.

💗 Leah Update 💗

We’re happy to share that Leah’s surgery went very well! 🙌 The vet successfully removed the mass under her tail as well as the one on her knee. While she was under, her ears were thoroughly cleaned and medicated, and a couple of teeth were also removed to keep her comfortable and healthy.

She’s going to be pretty sore over the next few days, so lots of rest, gentle care, and extra love are on the agenda. 💕 We are feeling hopeful and optimistic that Leah will make a full recovery.

Thank you all for keeping this sweet girl in your thoughts and for the continued love and support you show our seniors. 🐾💖

We are heartbroken and frustrated. This is the outcome of the cruelty to animals case involving Nova — a dog who was days from death when she came into our care.

Nova’s body condition score was 1 out of 9.
That is not “thin.”
That is starving.

Our veterinarian ran every test imaginable, hoping there was some hidden medical reason for her condition. There wasn’t.
Nova wasn’t sick.
Nova wasn’t failing.
Nova was being starved.

We nursed this girl back from the brink. We fed her small meals every 4–6 hours, around the clock, for weeks. We carefully balanced her rest and movement so she could rebuild muscle without burning precious calories. We watched her like a hawk. We carried the weight of her survival every single day.

And her abusers consequence?

No conviction.
Adjudication withheld.
Probation, listed on the animal abuser registry and a pet ownership class.

A literal slap on the wrist for starving a living being nearly to death.

Let me be very clear: this wasn’t an accident. This wasn’t ignorance. This wasn’t “he didn’t know better.”
This was prolonged neglect that almost cost Nova her life.

Cases like this are why rescues burn out.
Why advocates get angry.
Why it feels like animals still don’t matter enough in our justice system.

Nova survived in spite of what was done to her — not because of accountability.

She deserved better.
Animals deserve better.
And until cruelty is treated like the serious crime it is, this will keep happening.

We will keep fighting. For Nova. And for every animal whose voice never gets heard.

This sweet girl gave us quite the scare this morning. 💔

Daisy woke up in a lot of pain and had to make an emergency trip to the vet. After a full evaluation, it was determined that she has a herniated disc. The good news is she was able to come back home with us and is now resting comfortably.

She’s been sent home with pain medication, an anti-inflammatory, and a muscle relaxer, and will be on strict rest for the next few days while her body heals.

Please keep Daisy in your prayers as she works toward a quick and full recovery. She’s a tough little lady, but your love, prayers, and positive thoughts mean the world to her—and to us. 🐾💗

✂️ Operations Shave Down ✂️

Last night, a team of 5 incredible volunteers showed up at the rescue center with one mission: help Cali and Phoebe get some much-needed relief. Under the direction of our groomer (Okie Dokie Grooming), we worked for HOURS carefully shaving away layers of painful matting from these precious girls.

While they may currently be rocking some serious “boots with the fur” 🐾😅, we were able to make them significantly more comfortable. Both girls were exhausted, and the mats on their feet were pulled so tight against their skin that we made the decision to pause and wait until we have calming medication from our vet before attempting those areas. Their comfort and safety always come first.

💡 Why matting is so dangerous (especially for senior dogs):
• Mats pull constantly on the skin, causing pain
• They can cut off circulation
• They trap moisture, leading to infections and sores
• They hide wounds, tumors, and injuries
• They make it difficult for dogs to walk normally

Before shaving Cali, we honestly couldn’t tell which end was which. We even believed her tail had been cropped. It hadn’t. Underneath the matting was a beautiful, happy tail that had been completely hidden. That moment alone broke our hearts.

Matting isn’t just cosmetic — it’s painful, dangerous, and often a sign that a dog has been struggling for a long time.

Please keep Cali and Phoebe in your thoughts as we continue their care, and join us in thanking our volunteers who stayed late, worked tirelessly, and showed these girls so much love when they needed it most. 💛🐾

🩷 $5 FRIDAY – FOR LEAH 🩷

Sweet Leah needs us. 🐾
She has a pretty large mass on her bottom that has opened up and is painful, and because of the location it’s been very difficult to keep clean and comfortable. Our hearts ache for her.

Leah is scheduled for surgery this Wednesday to have the mass removed. The estimated cost is $1,093, and this week every $5 Friday donation will go directly toward Leah’s surgery.

If you can spare just $5, you’ll be helping relieve her pain and give her the comfort she deserves. Small donations add up in a big way when we come together.

👉 Donate, share, and keep Leah in your thoughts as we get her ready for surgery. Thank you for always standing by our seniors when they need us most. 💕🐶

✨ Randy-Patrick Update ✨

We finally have answers — and we are so relieved to share that Randy-Patrick does NOT have cancer. 🙏💛

His biopsy results came back, and he has been diagnosed with Pemphigus Vulgaris, an autoimmune condition where the body mistakenly attacks the connections between skin cells. This causes painful blisters, ulcers, and widespread skin irritation. It can look frightening, but the good news is that it is treatable with the right medical care.

Our plan moving forward is to start him on a high dose of steroids to calm his immune system and get the disease under control. Once stabilized, we will slowly taper him down to a long-term maintenance dose to help keep flare-ups at bay.

Through all of this, Randy-Patrick has been surrounded by love, carried through the hard moments, and comforted by our incredible volunteers. He truly feels your support.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for every prayer, message, and well wish.
You lifted him—and us—through a very scary week.

We’ll continue to keep you posted as he begins this next phase of healing. 💛🐾

Today, we welcomed two very special girls — Phoebe and Cali. ❤️🐾

Both were found as strays, abandoned and taken to the shelter… but today, they became Silver Snouts.

Sweet Cali has significant medical needs, and beautiful Phoebe has mammary cancer in multiple glands that has likely metastasized. Because of this, both girls will most likely remain with us as hospice rescues — loved, comforted, and cherished for every single day they have left.

Our mission is simple:
✨ Keep them comfortable
✨ Surround them with tenderness
✨ Make sure they never feel abandoned again

Their final chapter will be filled with love, soft beds, gentle hands, and peace.

Please keep Phoebe and Cali in your thoughts as they settle in.
Stay tuned for updates on their journey. 💛🐶

🙏 PRAYER REQUEST FOR RANDY-PATRICK 🙏

Friends, we are anxiously awaiting Randy-Patrick’s biopsy results. On Monday, we learned they had to be sent to a special dermatology lab, which means we’re still waiting—and praying—with hopeful hearts.

We are grateful that the steroids are helping his skin, but they’re also making him incredibly anxious. Our director has carried him like this for days because it’s the only thing that brings him comfort right now. 💔🐾

Our vet is concerned that his condition may be a form of skin cancer. Will you pray with us that it’s not, that it’s something treatable, and that this sweet boy will soon find relief and comfort?

Your prayers and good thoughts mean more than you know. We promise to update you the moment we hear back.

💛 Thank you for believing in him with us.

🎉 Milo Update! 🎉

Our handsome, goofy, sugar-sweet Milo had a vet visit yesterday and we are so proud of this little guy! He’s already making amazing progress with his blood sugar. Our vet tweaked his insulin a bit more and feels very confident that with the right diet, regular exercise, and proper insulin dosing, Milo will be able to keep everything well-controlled. 💙💉

And now for the BEST news of the day…
🏡 Milo has found his furever home!! 🏡

His wonderful foster family—who already has experience caring for dogs with diabetes—is officially adopting him as soon as our vet gives the final all-clear. Milo will head to his new home today, and he is absolutely beaming with pride.

Please help us congratulate this special boy as he begins his next chapter!
