Boarding parrots get to hang out in staff living quarters. Parrots need lots of day time interaction. They do very well in our “home” environment. When not in the room with them we put on parrot tv to entertain them. Lucky birds board at All Creatures Great & Groomed!

This holiday season please use caution with candles or wax warmers around pets. We recently had an emergency groom involving a wax warmer. This poor boy must have tried to smell the wax and tipped it over. He had redness and irritation on his neck. No major injuries thankfully. Then to make matters worse he must have lain in the cooling wax. Maximus was a brave boy about his first grooming session. Such a sweetheart!!!

This sweet old girl is getting the royal treatment! I set up a bed for her to be more comfortable during outside time while she's boarding with us. Clients are thrilled that staff spend the night with their pets.

I know people mean well but please stop feeding baby wildlife before you call a rehabber. This baby squirrel was fed cow's milk when she was found and not only does she have aspiration pneumonia but her digestive system is so messed up she's unable to digest the correct formula. I'm hoping between antibiotics and fluids I can get her to pull through but it's looking really bad.

Another squirrel we took in was kept for several weeks by the finder and fed primarily peanuts. Not only does she have MBD and can barely walk across her cage without getting her nails caught but I can't even convince her anything besides a peanut is food. She's just outright refusing to eat unless it's a peanut.

I get it. It's hard to wait to feed them. But I am facing huge battles with 2 squirrels because someone fed them incorrectly. I'm so very tired and sad of watching babies die because people make mistakes.

How to support what we do because a lot of it is sh*tty and sad and we are very very low on funds right now:

I’m so proud of Holly! She started coming to me for grooming years ago. In the early days I would have to muzzle her for just about everything. She would also p*e and p**p in the tub, on the table, in arms. She has an amazing family and is absolutely wonderful with them. She’s an anxious dog in general. The family and I suspect a bad experience at a different groomer. She also has issues with storms and all loud noises after surviving a tornado hit to their home. Can’t say that I blame her for being terrified and not trusting groomers. Our first lesson was to never put her down until we finish. She is terrified of people picking her up when stressed. After we put her down at the end of her appointment none of us touch her. We have her family come back to get her from the kennel. Otherwise Holly will panic and potty on herself. Over the years we have gradually earned her trust. The first thing to go was the towel on the table. She stopped her nervous pottying. (Except in the tub. She still does that) Next, we got her to the point that I could cautiously groom her everywhere except her belly and legs before having to muzzle. Eventually we only had to muzzle when trimming her toenails. Today she allowed me to Dremel her nails without a muzzle or reacting. Yay Holly! I love seeing the trust bond help with grooming anxiety and fear based aggression. I’m sure Holly will never actually enjoy her grooming appointments, but she definitely knows she will not be harmed!

Just another example of why regular grooming with a trusted groomer is so incredibly important! Miss Annie is one of our original customers. Grooming can be very stressful, especially for dogs that don’t come on a regular basis. Annie has a fantastic relationship with her groomers. Now that she’s an old lady and tires out easily, we continue to change our approach to suit her needs. We let her lie down as much as possible and give her breaks as needed. She is so relaxed with us that she prefers to lay down to let us grind her nails. Dogs that come regularly have the opportunity to develop this kind of trusting relationship with their groomer.

When your Mammaw is a dog groomer you must keep a close eye on her! 🤣
