Can we just talk about how Captain watches these girls so closely for guidance. None of these are my kid. And he is sooooo happy to follow them. I could watch this 1000 times π
Herman and Buddy were such a handful on the leash that their mom decided that it was easier to just not take them anywhere. Sound familiar?
Reach out if you need me, I'm here to help make life with your dog easier.

They were here when I broke my ankle and were just starting to show improvement when I had to send them home so it has been a real joy to get back to work with them and see them absolutely thrive in training.
I trust their new leash skills so much that I felt comfortable walking them while my 4 year old rode his bike!! π±π€―π that's HUGE!
Next we take this beautiful leash walk into public πͺ
Alright this is a long one. Totally unedited 3 minutes recorded during a first lesson on Monday/Labor Day (sorry we lose some time when Foster explains he gets gum if he listens while I work π
).
I wanted to share this video of how quickly your dog can change when you implement a new strategy. Creed (mini poodle) has learned how to take and enjoy his freedom. He has slipped out one way or another and had a grand ole time playing keep away from his owner and her kids. And what a good time that was! Why not do it again?!
His mom had figured out if she doesn't chase him and instead turns to go inside then he will follow her. Smart!
So, we will work on come when called. We will work on an appropriate outlet for the "come and get me game" but first we will work on not slipping out doors.
This is called boundary training. We are teaching Creed that there is a line he does not cross without permission. When enforced consistently it can be a literal life saver.
I'd say this pair earned some props πππ
Also can I just say I have the best clients? Anyone who gets down on their dog's level when I say "now celebrate" is ππ I tend to get these phenomenal people that really want what's best for their dog(s) so they can live their best lives together. It's a certain brand of person and I'm grateful for each and every one of you. [Not to mention she's not the first one to allow my preschooler to hang out while we work]
We hope you had an awesome Labor Day! We mostly ran around outside. Feel free to share what you did, doesn't need to be dog related.
The weather is so nice that I can even say "are you hungry" and the dogs go "meh I'd rather be out here". βοΈπ»π₯
Seven met Storm a few days ago. Storm is up to 212 lbs! This play took about 45 mins to happen. First, Seven was going to protect me from the big scary monster (teeth out, placed his body between me and the scary beast. Darn guardians). I worked with him on a neutral approach and then he needed to check every inch of the house and yard and THEN was ready to play. Goodness. It took a bit of work but our patience paid off.
More playdates with Storm are in our future.
If you have a big scary monster that Seven could practice on reach out to me!
I am so incredibly proud of this duo. Gizmo is people/dog/anything that moves reactive. To the point his mom worried their HOA was going to have a problem. She is a very capable dog owner. She did her best self educating (the internet is a blessing and curse for these things) and had even tried other trainers.
Gizmo just celebrated his first gotcha day. And what better way to celebrate than to show his mom there's light at the end of the tunnel.
First step to resolving reactivity is to get control of the leash walk. This lesson we were supposed to avoid triggers and show Gizmo's mom how to handle a leash like a pro. But Gizmo was ready for more. Watch him walk past these people and stay relaxed!!! ππ₯³
Give Gizmo and his mom some props they deserve it!!
Learning theory is universal! I'll be sending an invoice for the lesson this sheep at @thecrabbyappleorchard got in #heel today ππ
Working that public access πͺπͺ
In the past Bernie would have knocked the entire store over with his enthusiasm and happy butt. Now he's the same happy guy, just a more manageable version. He is an impressive dude!
Bernie has done a full 180Β° on his leash walk. Now all we need to do is practice around distractions to make it solid. Go Bernie!! π₯³π₯³
