Giving Tuesday: Help Rabbits Like Gunther Heal and Thrive

Your Giving Tuesday donations help foster rabbits heal from their past and discover a life filled with care, comfort, and compassion.

Meet Gunther.
He was rescued after being left alone for 34 days without food or water, along with several other rabbits. Gunther suffered deeply — especially due to his neglected lop ears, which made him prone to severe infections. With no veterinary care, he developed painful, chronic ear infections that required life-saving surgery in both ears.

Thanks to your generosity, Gunther received two lateral bulla osteotomy procedures — a complex and costly surgery totaling $6,000.

🩺 The first photos show him before surgery: tense and in pain.
🐰 The later ones show his left ear post-surgery, and finally, a calm, relaxed Gunther — now infection-free and starting to enjoy life again.

Gunther has significant hearing loss, but that doesn’t hold him back. His incredible foster caregiver is teaching him American Sign Language (ASL) so he can always feel connected and secure.

🎄 Home for the Holidays — Day 4: Meet Gizzy! 🐰✨

Say hello to Gizzy, our fluffy little diva with a whole lot of personality and a castle fit for royalty 👑🏰

This tiny wooly wonder was found abandoned in a cage by a dumpster, but thanks to a kind stranger, she’s finally safe indoors—right where every companion rabbit belongs. Now she’s hoping for a calm, patient caregiver who understands that trust takes time. 💛

Gizzy is a “pet-me-with-your-eyes” kind of girl—she loves being near her people but prefers affection on her terms. Yes, she may toss in a dramatic little lunge at mealtime (she is a diva, after all 😌), but it’s mostly bluff from a bunny who’s learning the world can be kind.

She adores relaxing and exploring in her fancy personal castle—which goes home with her when she’s adopted! And while she’s not sure she wants to share her space with another rabbit just yet, she does enjoy watching bunny neighbors from a polite distance. 🐇👀

Gizzy is particular about her food and her grooming routine, but that’s part of her charm. She’s unique, expressive, and beautifully herself. If you’re looking for a resilient little soul with a big spirit and even bigger fluff, Gizzy might just be your perfect match. 💕

💙🌟Home for the Holidays! Day 3: Meet Striker! 🌟💙

Hi, I’m Striker! I may be small, but I’ve already lived through a big adventure. I was abandoned outside, which was scary and dangerous for a domestic rabbit like me. Thankfully, some kind volunteers rescued me, and now I’m safe and cozy indoors—just where I belong! 🏡❤️

I’m a friendly and curious guy who loves attention and being petted. I enjoy hanging out with humans and might really enjoy having a bunny companion too! 🐰💚🐰

I do have a bit of a unique hop—our vet found that I have arthritis in my right knee, likely from my time outside. But don’t worry—it doesn’t slow me down! I still jump on my hidey house and zoom around doing the bunny 500 like a champ. 🐇💨

It is thought that I have a back injury and occasional muscle spasms, but no underlying cause has been found. I take two daily medications that help keep me feeling great, and I even get special Assisi Loop treatments. My foster mom says I’m such a sweet boy, and I always reward her with kisses and cuddles after meds.

Striker will thrive in a loving indoor home that can provide:

✨ Meet Imala – A Resilient and Spirited Companion! ✨

Beautiful little Imala has been through more than any rabbit should—but she’s rewriting her story with courage, curiosity, and a whole lot of attitude! 💛

Rescued by animal control after being abandoned in a tiny cage without food or water, Imala arrived exhausted and hungry. But with nutritious meals, fresh water, and gentle TLC, she’s shown us just how strong and determined a house rabbit can be. Today, she’s thriving in foster care and embracing life with bright eyes and bold hops. 🐰✨

This young lop is blossoming into a true social butterfly. She’s energetic, playful, and absolutely loves exploring new spaces. Whether she’s munching her hay, savoring her pellets, or diving nose-first into her fresh salads, Imala enjoys every moment of the good life she always deserved. 🌿💚

Now spayed and settling into healthier routines, Imala is doing wonderfully with her litterbox habits. She’s discovering the joy of gentle pets and is learning to trust humans more and more each day. While she may not be a lap companion (yet!), she’s brave, smart, and blossoming beautifully week by week.

And this time… we’re adding handmade rabbit toys, enrichment boxes, and IHRS shirts for purchase! 🎁💚 All proceeds benefit IHRS, and these make fantastic holiday gifts for the rabbits or rabbit lovers in your life.

✨ Home for the Holidays!✨
We’re kicking off our Home for the Holidays series — sharing an adoptable rabbit every day in December in hopes of helping as many deserving buns as possible find loving indoor homes before the year ends. 🏡❄️💛

Today, we begin with Mariska, a tender soul looking for a quiet forever home.

Meet Mariska — a brave, gentle rabbit who has come a long way. After being released outdoors to fend for herself, she is now safe in foster care and showing her true personality: a solo queen who thrives with her own peaceful space and a patient human nearby.

She’s tidy, sweet, and expressive once she feels secure. Mariska loves lounging near her caregiver during the workday, doing happy dances at cookie time, and offering soft little flops to show her trust. She prefers all four feet on the ground, doesn’t climb, and needs a calm home with no other rabbits and no direct contact with other animals.

Because of the hardships she survived, Mariska has some physical limitations and requires routine vet ear cleanings (every two months) by a rabbit-savvy veterinarian. Handling should be kept to what’s absolutely necessary — she thrives when her boundaries are respected.

In return, she’ll give you something truly special: trust earned slowly, gently, and wholeheartedly. ✨
