So handsome! 😍 Bash is a 7yr old Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. He was here for his Annual Wellness Exam and a Senior Bloodwork Panel. This is the perfect age to get Labs started even if nothing is going on. It gives us a good baseline to catch anything that may be going on, but still in the early stages, or to compare to any future labs. He did amazing. Such a sweetheart! ❤️❤️

Congratulations to our local Hancock Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation as they transition to Re-wilding Indiana in the new year. They are wonderful ambassadors for the wildlife of Indiana. Thank you, Jennifer and your amazing staff of volunteers! You're very appreciated! ❤️❤️

Today is bittersweet, as it’s the last day we will officially operate as “Hancock Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation" although you will still see the name in places as it is updated on paperwork. Several years ago I found a baby animal that needed some help, and after running into hurdle after hurdle of trying to find a licensed rehabber to take it in, I began looking into how to become licensed myself. The process isn’t easy. And it shouldn’t be. But the fact is, there just aren’t very many people who are licensed. And once you get licensed, the financial aspect is all your own. We receive absolutely no funding for taking in the animals, so every rehabber has to have a limit. These are all things I didn’t know until I looked into the process. Still, in 2022, I became licensed and had a few cages set up in my spare bedroom and one outdoor enclosure. I never intended to take in more than 20 animals a year or have the need for volunteers. Fast forward to today…..we are now a group of about 30+ active volunteers, 3 licensed rehabbers, and have taken in over 1000 animals to date. Today is our last day operating as Hancock Wildlife, and tomorrow, we begin operating as “Re-Wilding Indiana.” We will have a veterinarian, a wildlife hospital, and have begun the process of becoming federally permitted for birds. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would expand from my spare bedroom to a wildlife hospital in the span of a couple years…..but here we are! I am beyond proud of what we have accomplished and what we still have to do for the wildlife here in Indiana. Never underestimate what you can accomplish and never give up on your dreams!
