Raising worms is a long & sometimes tedious process. It takes a lot of time and the little guys are fragile. This one got a new home with freshly started hatch so he can grow with worms more his size. In a few months, he’ll be ready to go to work!

It’s been a slow process as taking care of our worms takes up most of our time, but we’re making progress in reestablishing our backyard. The rich dark soil is Rescue Dirt and is a perfect base layer. The Rescue Dirt will be raked out in an even layer.
We’re planting White Dutch Clover. Since those seeds are so fine, we’ll be mixing them with CIOF Earthworm Castings for easier application.
Fun Fact: White Dutch Clover and CIOF Earthworm Castings are both available at Des Moines Feed & Nature Center

This is a great visual as to how CIOF Earthworm Castings restore soil. All this soil started out as construction clay! The very tall plants are in soil that has been treated with castings for about 8 years. We’ve planted in the same spot for all those years. As the video sweeps right, you can see the area which we have just this year started to restore. All the plants are full of tomatoes! Hey, this stuff really works! As the plants start to flower, top dress with CIOF Castings and/or water with castings tea. (Human in video for reference😁). Available at select stores and online: www.centraliowaorganicfertilizer.com #PooIsGood #naturesperfectfertilizer
We raise our own worms! It’s pretty tough work; lots of bending, lifting, and moving tubs and buckets. Sometimes, when we start the process, we don’t see much. Gotta have faith that those worm eggs are going to hatch! When I run my hand over the dirt and I see it move (yes, there’s so many babies it looks like the dirt is moving!), I know there’s lots and lots of these little guys growing big and strong. They’ll be fed and pampered for mo this before they get to join their adult worm friends and go into full production mode. In the meantime, they are eating and making some very good castings!
BTW, our SCRATCH & DENT sale is on!

In my travels, CIOF was a big topic. Wildlife wanted people to use it in their gardens and on lawns. They said, “CIOF is a great fertilizer and terrific soil restorer”. Hey, these guys know their nature. You should listen to them!

Many of you have been curious about castings tea. It’s not for you to drink, but for your plants! Here’s one of our customers and Giant Pumpkin Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon winner explaining how he makes castings tea. It’s great stuff as it feeds through the leaves, and as the mixture falls, through the ground also. After making the tea, toss the leftover castings on the plants/garden, potted plant, houseplant…. There’s still plenty of good stuff in the castings! Our recipe is on our bags and online. Now is a great time to “water” plants with castings tea! Here’s a tip for growing great flowering fruits & veggies: when they start to flower, side dress with a little CIOF Earthworm Castings! Apply right at the stem. No chemicals so no burning the plant! Great for indoor/outdoor, lawns, raised beds, container gardening, & anything that grows! www.centraliowaorganicfertilizer.com #PooIsGood #naturesperfectfertilizer
This little worm is brand spanking new! He’s white because he just hatched and has yet to eat! Once he gets his first meal, he’ll turn “worm” color. He was given a good healthy meal and is well on his way to becoming a big working worm!
We really do it all at CIOF. We raise baby worms, harvest the castings, bag them & get them out the door! To get CIOF Earthworm Castings to your door, order online: www.centraliowaorganicfertilizer.com
