Our latest rescue has his surgery consult tomorrow. Thank you Lisa Fein Blodgett for stepping up to take him. Kimberly Lynn is living her best life at the horse show and me, we'll I have a boring work call (but gotta pay my bills). It takes a village and it is situations like these that remind you how important committed fosters are. None of us can do what we do without the partnership of a great vet (thank you Ridgeline Veterinary Clinic ), supportive donors and dedicated, committed fosters.
Please foster if you can. If you have questions, or are unsure if you'd be good foster material, reach out and we can discuss. The main qualifications needed are love, patience and forgiveness because rescue dogs are all different and need the understanding to allow them to decompress and adjust. I promise you they aren't perfect but they're well worth it! ❤️🐾
Look at Oscar go! As much as we all love him it's time to think about his forever. He'll be going on a foster to adopt trial soon!
A look at the dogs that started it all. My fosters before Support 4 Paws officially started! #memoriesforlife #nonprofit #rescuedog
A little morning play session with some fosters - including the formerly paralyzed pup, Oscar (black puppy), and the itty bitty fawn Chi that we're helping out the owner by getting her spayed and microchipped.

Oscar visited Ridgeline today for a progress report on his strangles diagnosis. He met some friends and had a blast! He’s doing really well and is almost completely recovered.
My daughter is a talented equestrian and pretty much every night she jumps our dogs and herself over obstacles.
Tonight she taught Oscar how to jump. She said his style still needs work but he’s off to a good start. 😂
Oscar continues to challenge us but he seems completely unbothered by his most recent diagnosis. He has puppy strangles but is on the road to recovery once again and it hasn’t slowed him down a bit.
A long overdue Oscar update:
We have a completely normal puppy! His favorite things include dragging and eating shoes, pulling my rugs all over the house and being adorable.
We are weaning off all meds and although he still has a very tiny limp, he continues to improve.
I’ve fostered A LOT of dogs and he is definitely one of my favorites so far.
We have liftoff! Today he is consistently walking and is much steadier than yesterday.
Look at him go! He kind of resembles a middle aged lady after a bottomless mimosa brunch but that’s ok. We will celebrate any progress no matter how unsteady he is. Excuse his eyes, I just haven’t cleaned them yet this evening, I was too excited to get the video.
I was concerned he couldn’t chew but he’s laid that fear to rest.
Oscar is moving his front legs now and mastering the army crawl. We are exploring options for advanced diagnostics since his full body radiographs did not give us an answer to his limited mobility. For now, he is totally comfortable, eating great and being a pretty normal pup despite his limitations.
The little guy continues to fight. He absolutely can move his hind legs but not his front legs. He is eating, peeing, wagging his tail and absolutely loves being held and cuddled. He is not crying or restless and has just started to recognize his people. His favorite person so far is Morgan.
