Ensuring the safety of my client's dog, a Bullmastiff, during walks is paramount. I verify the collar fits properly before departure and utilize two collars and leashes to ensure extra security. This is especially useful for rescue dogs, as having a backup leash allows for added control and peace of mind.

Buddy is my dog. If you have met me, you have met Buddy. We go everywhere together! We
participate in the dog sport Fun Nose Work at the SPCALA Long Beach. It's a dog sport where dogs use their nose to locate odor. It's similar to working detection dogs. Over time you learn to trust your dog, that he knows what he is doing. I watch in awe as he finds the odor.

SPCALA Long Beach has classes or West Los Angeles Obedience Training Club has classes at Rancho Park in Cheviot Hills.

Meet Barney the Havenese. I provided the client with selecting a quality breeder for this Havenese, in addition, I provided private puppy training, socialization, daily walks. Look how he looks at me adoringly.... He's almost 2 years old. Barney will be 2 years old in January 2024. He's a joy for his owner.

Puppies learn soft mouths from Mom. Keep your puppy with the breeder if you don't have time to socialize. A willing Mom can do a better job at teaching soft mouth than we ever can..

This is what you want to see in dog play groups.

I had reinforcement such a several balls. I can use the balls to get the dog to sit in front and wait for me to throw the ball. The key is don't wait too long to throw the ball or the dog will find something else more interesting. ( I know these dogs history and triggers. Balls may not be appropriate for all groups.)

Look at all the head turns and look away and not direct stares.

Depending on their interaction the weight shifts towards or away from the other dogs. It's a dance.

Ending the play time before they get bored and move on to something else such as a group walk.
(10 -15 minutes)

Here what pet parents can do to support their puppy or kitten. With Dog training, I recommend that owner be proactive it teaching the dog "the new thing" is no big deal. Novel situations are always around the corner. Be prepared with your treats. A few seconds in seeing or hearing "the new thing" is all that is needed and then calmly walk away. The puppy is not required to interact with it. The new thing is just in his environment. It can be a noise, a smell, an older person with walker, a child running after a 🏀. When you walk away or if you puppy gets too overwhelmed by the situation calmly look away and yawn. A slightly opened mouth communicates, "all is well, nothing to worry about here". You may feel awkward, with your mouth slightly open, however I works.
