We hear all the time about how people can't hold/handle/pick up their chins. None of these animals are held often (they are breeding males) they spend most their time in the run. But with proper handling and understanding of chinchilla mentality they are relaxed and easily handled. They are sitting and letting people pet them, it's loud and can be hectic at times. Yet the chins sit calm and relaxed.

I have some catching up to do with babies. I'll get caught up as soon as I get home.

But, since we are almost home, I can finally announce...

We are the proud new owners of th M&M Chinchilla Herd! We drove all the way to Corvallis Oregon to pick up the beautiful little herd. We are so grateful that Melissa has trusted us to continue on her work. We are so excited!

After almost 1 week on the road, we finally got home. It was quite the adventure! I truly enjoyed spending 4 days on the road with one of my mentors, Roger Clark. The amount of industry history and knowledge that can be learned driving down the road talking to someone who's been in the business for that long is almost overwhelming. My brain couldn't log information fast enough. It was wonderful!

Also, we brought home 5 new ANGORAS to add to our herd! I must admit, they are kinda cute. The ebony male may not enjoy my company quite yet, but he sure has stolen a piece of my heart. I named him Monet.
We also brought home the most beautiful homozygous beige female. Thank you Royal Chinchillas for your generosity and your amazing work you've put into these beautiful creatures.

On our way to MCBA Nationals! This will be our last show of the 2022/2023 show season. We are very excited about this next year's coming offspring! There is also some very exciting things happening in the next few months!
Animals Days starts in April and is one of our favorite events!
We also have some other surprises coming in April!

But for now... Indiana, here we come!

Tulip is in labor!

Today was an eventful day. N44 & N45 showed up today with enthusiasm. 2 more violet girls! Unfortunately one the violet triplets from a couple days ago isn't doing to good. I think her sisters are not letting her nurse and Unfortunately she is too weak right now to just rotate them. I actually thought she was passed away when I found her. But she had a heart beat so I knew I had to try. I gave her 2 sets of sub q fluids (2ml) each. 2 drops of honey (one at a time) in her mouth to raise her blood sugar. Then, God Bless my daughter Brooklyn. Dedication is keeping an almost dead baby chinchilla warm in your bra while you fill water bottles. We hurried through feeding and watering. By then the second set of sub q fluids had helped the baby at least be able to move a little. Although wobbly. She is currently at work with me (hope she likes karaoke) she has eaten about 1/2 a ml of formula. But she is very tired.
