Verdigris Pembroke Welsh Corgis

Verdigris Pembroke Welsh Corgis We strive to bring quality AKC pembroke puppies to those who love the breed! We are not a large breeder as we would rather have quality versus quantity.

We are blessed to be able to bring a select number of people each year wonderful puppies. This helps to ensure each and every puppy that leaves us has had the utmost care and attention to allow them to be the best puppy and dog they can be. We have two kids and so our puppies will come very socialized to children. Quality in our puppies is the most important thing to us! We are constantly working to better our program. Feel free to contact us and ask questions. We don't mind! God bless!

It was pawdicure day here at Verdigris. Our pretty Penny loves the special treats she gets during her spa time. ❤️

Remember how important it is to keep their nails trimmed and their paw hair kept short. We are awaiting a winter storm here in Oklahoma and those longer hairs build up snow balls between their pads.

A very Happy New Year to all of our friends!! May the new year bring you many joys and blessings 🥰

We are considering a wonderful retirement home for our dear Sasha. She’s an inside pet who is crate trained, potty trained and enjoys the finer things. She must go where she’ll be kept fit and healthy, we don’t want to see her getting as wide as she is long lol. She gets along well with other dogs, she can want to be the boss lady though. She’s great with kids of all ages and is used to livestock. She’s never messed with our chickens when we’re out and about on the farm. We don’t have cats so I can’t speak to that although with her personality I can’t see her caring. She does not bark in the house. We will be selective about a new home and she will stay with us unless we find the perfect match. Would love to see her in a home where she is the only dog or one of two. She LOVES attention and wants to be the queen, as she should! 🥰

She will be 4 in Jan. She has been spayed and is up to date on all vetting.

So very important this time of year. Cherish those lives in your care ❤️

The Forgotten Dog’s Christmas Poem

Twas the night before Christmas when all thru the house,
Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nick soon would be there.
The children all nestled snug in their beds,
With no thought of the dog filling their head.
And mom in her kerchief and I in my cap,
Knew the dog was cold but didn’t care about that.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window, I flew like a flash,
Figuring the dog was free of his chain and into the trash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow,
Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But Santa Claus with his eyes full of tears.
He unchained the dog once so lively and quick,
Last year’s Christmas present now painfully sick.
More rapid than eagles he called the dog’s name,
And the dog ran to him despite all his pain.
Now Dasher, now Dancer, now Prancer and V***n,
On Comet on Cupid on Donner and Blitzen.
To the top of the porch to the top of the wall,
Let’s find this dog a home where he will be loved by all.
I knew in an instant there would be no gifts this year,
For Santa had made one thing quite clear.
The gift of a dog is not just for the season,
We had gotten the dog for all the wrong reasons.
In our haste to think of the kids a gift,
There was one important thing we missed.
A dog should be family and cared for the same,
You don’t give a gift, then put it on a chain.

And I heard him explain as he rode out of site,
“You weren’t given a gift, you were given a life.”

What a great day for our girl! Miska Dancing Away With My Heart “Tally” went WB and BOW yesterday in Orlando! Thank you to the honorable judge Mrs. Lydia Coleman Hutchinson for finding Tally today. As always, she was handled to perfection by our wonderful handler Lauren! A special thank you to the member and volunteers of the Brevard Kennel Club as well as the Sunshine PWCC for the supported entry today ❤️ I was very happy when I got the news today.

100%. We require our puppies to remain intact for at least 12 months, the longer the better for them to benefit from their hormones as they grow. We do require spay/neuter by 36 months. This is so they can fully mature prior to desexing and taking those vitals hormones away.

“These two boys are from the same parents, boy on the left was paediatric neutered and the other has stayed intact. As you can see, the development the right pup has compared to the left is undeniable, from his skull width, to his chest and shoulders.
This is the development pups will lose out on when desexing before full maturity.”

Why does a purebred puppy from a reputable club breeder cost so much?

1. Health Testing on Sire and Dam
2. Routine Veterinary Care
3. Breeding Costs. Progesterone Testing, Stud Fees, Brucellosis Testing, Travel to and from. TCI, Frozen Semen, Chilled Semen, Shipped Semen
4. Quality Puppy Food and Supplements
5. Whelping Supplies (boxes, pens, toys, expendables, supplements, other containment)
6. Vet Checks for Puppies, Vaccines, Dewormers, Microchips
7. AKC registration and Microchip Registration
8. My time. It takes about a week of my time arranging the breeding and to raise the puppies until 8 weeks that is a minimum of 1500 hours of work and effort.
9. Puppy kits, printed materials, and health information.
10. My time spent educating owners and continuing to give advice for the life of the dog.

I won’t include the club memberships, championships, travel to shows, advertising, hundreds of hours of time spent promoting purebred dogs. I won’t include missed vacations, sleepless nights, very high repro vet bills, missed breedings, c sections, singletons, or bad luck. All expensive and we do it for no other reason than to preserve our breeds.

If I hear another person say they are just looking for a pet and not a showdog then my advice to them is go ahead and buy a car with no warranty, no manual, no VIN or registration and the odometer is broken. Good luck with that. I hope you have a good trainer and good insurance. Most of what we produce are just pets. Loved cherished companions that go to carefully screened homes. it is only the exceptional ones we breed. That therein lies the difference.
