Over the years we have often offered jobs to students attending Ellsworth Community College. This year, we’re doing something a little different. We decided this would be a great year to do an internship with a college student interested in equine reproduction!

Meet Shelbi Braun. Shelbi grew up on an acreage outside Dows. Her passion for horses started at a very young age when she attended the Dayton Championship Rodeo. She begged and begged for a horse, and her parents finally broke down and got her one. Her passion for them has never faded.

Shelbi is dual-majoring at Ellsworth in Equine Science and Equine Management. She will graduate in May. Her education began in the c**t starting program, but she quickly fell in love with equine reproduction.

“There is just something so special about creating and bringing new life into the world,” she says.

“I’m excited to gain real life experience with Gary and Robin from foaling out mares to AI and embryo transfer. I’m excited to be a part of it all!”

Shelbi not only enjoys the reproduction side of things, but she thoroughly enjoys working with the weanlings and yearlings as well. From everyday handling to grooming and cleaning stalls, she is happy to do it all.

Looking forward, Shelbi hopes to have a small-scale breeding facility of her own with 10-20 broodmares and possibly stand her own stud.

We’re so happy to have Shelbi with us this summer! We appreciate her hard work, dedication and work ethic!

We’re proud to be a part of an outstanding program IQHA Ranch Horse Stallion Breeders Program and Futurity. If you’re interested in showing at the futurity, we have multiple yearlings & 2 year olds available that are eligible!

The IQHA Ranch Futurity would like to welcome back another one of the original enrollees to the program...Guitar Gun. He is a 2005 model, sired by Playgun, and the dam is a daughter of Smart Little Lena.

Guitar Gun is an AQHA superior sire, an AQHA high point sire, AQHA World Show top 5 sire, and NCHA money earning sire. His get have earned over 400 points, 9 AQHA performance ROM's, World show earnings $3,840, and NCHA earnings of $12,222. He sired the 6th most money won at the 2023 futurity, siring earnings of $6,924.23. He also placed 2nd in the prestigious Get of Sire class at the 2023 futurity. He is also the overall 6th place sire in terms of money won over the life of the futurity, siring $14,218.75.

We are offering one of our favorites this weekend at Schmitty's Sale Barn.
Chica is as sweet and athletic as they come. She’s the perfect age the go on and excel at a performance home or keep her to work on the ranch. Use her now and breed her later.

Chica stands well for everything from bathing, farrier, clipping & saddling. She rides around barefoot & take a bit with ease. Loads and unloads from the trailer with no problems. Chica gets along well with other horses and farm animals. She stalls well, does good in a dry lot and on pasture.

Guitar Gun’s offspring had an incredibly successful time showing at the IQHA Ranch Horse Stallion Breeders Program and Futurity this year. This is a wonderful program with many great incentives!

The Select Online Sale’s top five yearlings averaged a massive $85,700, with the top 10 averaging $62,950.
