We start kidding this weekend. Miss shadow will kick us off this year. This year the kiddings are much more spread out than usual. But we are looking forward to some pretty babies!

Shadow is bred to Swallow Hill MM Darth Vader. Shadow is a great milker and so easy to milk with nice sized teats.

Morning thoughts

I had a thought this morning as I was pulling weeds in my garden, yes that never ending job, but this morning as I pulled the weeds and tossed them over the fence to the goats and pigs and collected them for the chickens and momma pig, I thought why do I always think “ugh the weeds are getting so bad!” Why don’t I view them as a bountiful harvest? The animals enjoy them and they help feed them and don’t cost me a penny… so I decided I will try more often (yes I will probably still curse them on hot days when I don’t feel like pulling weeds,lol) to at least try to view them as part of my harvest and not just a problem I need to fix. I hope you all enjoy this beautiful Friday!

We are getting beans from the garden now! And dinner tonight was meatloaf patties with the wonderful beef from my neighbors, a salad with lettuce from the garden and our eggs(I wish my tomatoes and cucumbers were ready), and milk bread made with our own milk. And instant mashed potatoes (because you have to have balance right, lol).
