A big congrats to our March grads!!! We have Sancho, Kacey, Annie (GREAT name!!), and Moose (not pictured 😔). Moose started with us, but only made it 2 weeks, as he ended up with severe allergies that were very difficult to control, so we just did a 2-week program with him. But everybody did fantastic and we know their families will keep them on n track!

In honor of national women’s day, I’d like to take the opportunity to introduce myself and my staff, as we are a female-owned and (predominantly!😉) operated business.

My name is Annie Dollinger, and I am the owner of Blue Star K9. I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and Canine Behaviorist. I am a 1996 graduate of National K9 School for Dog Trainers in Columbus OH, and a retired Police Officer. I have been training dogs since I was a kid. (Fun Fact: I was the little kid that thought she WAS a dog! And my beautiful mother encouraged my imagination by putting socks on my hands for paws and leotards on my head for floppy ears🥰! So yeah, I was BORN for this!😂). I have attended (and still do when the opportunity allows!) numerous training seminars with some of the masters in the industry to always learn and keep fresh! I built Blue Star K9 out of my home full-time in 2021, and I am absolutely BLESSED to be where we are today! But I truly would not be here were it not for my team!

Becca!! Becca is our head Daycare Coach and Kennel Tech. Affectionately referred to as “the game changer” 😘. She is my right wing, ride-or-die, and also my niece!! Also, lover-of-ALL-y’all’s-dogs, finder-of-all-boo-boos, and the p**p warden! Becca passes out love by the handful and EVERYBODY feels it!!

Carson!! Carson is our assistant trainer, our only dude, and MY baby boy!!😊 Carson’s a big guy, but with his calm demeanor and soft energy, he has your dogs MELTING!! And his baby voice???!!!😍😍😍

Isabel!! Isabel is our Apprentice Trainer, and we are STOKED to have her on our team! Isabel shows horses in various disciplines, and her family owns Golden Acres, breeding Golden Retrievers.

💙🖤🩶🤍 Both Carson and Isabel are going to be AMAZING dog trainers and behaviorists as they grow in the industry, and will be WAY ahead of the game!! And we are SO eager for you to watch them grow!!

Nancy!! Nancy (along with her sidekick Gordy!) is our office guru and runs the show up front. She’s retired military, so she runs a tight ship! She is also my big sister! You might see her when you come in or talk to her on the phone, but either way, she’ll make you feel welcome, and she’s a plethora of knowledge!

Our service is very unique, and we have an incredible and knowledgeable team here to serve all of your pups needs, be it training, boarding or daycare!

Isabel is our new Apprentice Trainer! She’s learning the ropes of dog training and canine behavior, and we expect her to be a HUGE asset to your dogs!!! Isabel comes from an extensive dog and horse background. She shows horses in various disciplines, and her family owns Gooden Acres, Golden Retriever breeders. Rest assured your pups are in good hands with Isabel!

Here’s another little video of our HOW…

This is Annie (GREAT name, by the way!😉), and she is on her 3rd day of training. We don’t speak ‘commmands’ during the first week of training as it’s simply not necessary when teaching a behavior. We can ALWAYS label our bevaiors once they are understood. We are helping Annie learn the following behaviors in this video; sit, place, stay, down and recall. We use hand signals during this phase over verbal words, as this helps our pups engage with us more, and of course, because THAT is how dogs communicate (body language). We’re also working Annie on a simple slip lead. During week 1, we don’t use any tools (other than food and a clicker). We believe tools are only used to reinforce what a dog already knows, and are not necessary to teach.

We think little Annie is doing very well for day 3!

NALA!!! Sweet, beautiful, clumsy, goofy Nala!! Nala is a 6-month-old Cane Corso. Her family had originally hired a trainer to come to their home and help them with her. After several sessions, this trainer slapped on some sort of collar and yanked away! Needless to say, this scared the CRAP out of Nala, and she let them know it! To the point where the neighbors were coming out! This trainer then told them “this was the worse fear-aggressive case she has ever seen”…WHAAAAAT!?!?!??? And then they came to us!! AND she’ll be back for Daycare!😉👍🏽

Rocco & Eddie!!!
Rocco came to us for our 3-week boot camp, and his brother Eddie was trained previously by Buckeye K9 in Ohio, but his people decided they needed a refresher, so Eddie joined us for Rocco’s last week so we can start working them in tandem. They’re gonna do just fine!!
