Speck
15.8. Speck working a nice set this past weekend. Was second in Futurity sidepot average.
Buck Shiz Nex. Speck making a nice run in Albion NE yesterday.
She had some extra steps, acted a little colty, but every run is a learning process with young horses.
Hey she was well mannered at the trailer yesterday at least. The naughty award goes to Foreman for that lol.
Thanks for sharing the day with me Cessalie Sternhagen, so much fun!!
Hot Judge By Design. Foreman and I having a good day! He was the winner this time.
Thank you Toofpik Barrel Series for the fun jackpot in the beautiful Albion NE facility.
Foreman runs with CEP Daily Lung and also uses CEP Daily Drip.

Last update on Maple. Cute 4 yr old mare that arrived 2 months ago. I had to set up a roundpen in my barn as she couldnt lope a circle. (In trainer world, getting one in to “start” on the pattern she was not at that place yet..) She was kind, smart, and was trying. Fast forward to her cute owner coming today to ride her horse again. She was able to lope the pattern on her and was very excited. Her mom did the video and was pretty happy too. I am excited for this young lady and Maple! I have invited her to come for lessons and I think she would love the boot camp we do here too!
Buck Shiz Nex, « Speck » got her second competition run today in NE. She had a trip and a slip at first but handled is all well. She’s starting to figure out we get to go fast around the barrels, lol. She’s been fun so far and gets better every trip away from home. She won enough to pay for the fuel, so she got extra cookies!
Tivtastic Bonita making a run thru for her second competition. She has came a lo g ways and continues to try hard and seems to change every week. And Bonbon even won some $$!!
It’s been one month since my last post about Maple.. I thought you might enjoy an update. She has been trying hard and has learned a lot. She enjoys her lessons but is still a little worried about her mouth and bits. She can lope small circles now and straight lines, lol. This was the first time she’s loped around 3 barrels. We practiced the 4 barrel drill a good amount of times and she’s pretty handy. Anyway, maybe this all sounds silly but she’s been a lot of work, so I’m glad she’s coming together. It may look like I havent done much, but she couldn’t lope a circle, much less take her leads, when she arrived in October.
This filly has been interesting. She came for 60 days on the pattern. She was in no way ready to go to the pattern. I really wanted to say, no and send her home, but a young girl owns her and I just couldn’t. The filly was very gentle, just had no clue about many things. We spent a week in the round pen learning to lope a circle, as she could not when she arrived. (Been here approx 2 weeks) She had recently had her teeth done for the first time so she’s figuring out the bit does not hurt anymore. She is starting to break at the poll and have some collection at a trot. She has a difficult time loping to the right but at least she can take that lead now. Starting some shoulder movement laterally and moving off my leg. Quite a ways to go, but without this foundation when I send her home, she will struggle at doing what she’s asked to do. So we went backwards to go forward. A sweet disposition and a kind eye, with a cute kid that owns you, gets you a long way around here…
Fling Fire Bar making a nice 2D run at Blazin Barrels finals. He won some nice $$$ and a brand new heavyweight winter blanket. Good job Flinger!
I was proud of ”Foreman” Hot Judge By Design this past weekend at Blazin Barrels Finals. He had a big stumble on second but still clocked a nice time! He won the Futurity Division and was 4th in the Open race with 130+ entries. He added over $400 to his earnings and I was awarded a beautiful coat and he won a new winter blanket!
Hot Judge By Design. “Foreman”
You were born a champion, created by a champion now to be one.
After all if we don’t dream big, are we really trying our hardest?
Oh little gray horse, I have dreams and you’re it. Here’s to 2023 futurity season.
Tipping a barrel is always disappointing. However getting to run this horse in a big pen outside is such a rush!
Nigel is so fast, and so fun!! Thanks for the ride buddy…next time we won’t be tipping.
So glad Lori Kjose decided to go to the jackpot and I got to go along!
Well the Easter Bunny arrived a few days early here. Worked the dirt for me too. Lol. Happy Easter all. Cessalie Sternhagen 😉
Lessons are always fun one way or another!
Getting going for the year after myself having surgery. Iowa Sooner is so fun!
Iowa Sooner “Nigel” making a pretty run
