A happy barrel horse who loves his/her job is my passion. I enjoy running Futurity c**ts and watching them progress in their training. I do however do tune-ups and fix older horses as well. I sell a few nice prospects and some finished horses every year. Finding the perfect rider for the horse I have for sale is always my goal. I also do represent customer horses and help them with selling theirs and finding them their new homes.

I have more than several requests for barrel racing lessons in the past few months, from people who do not have a horse. They are asking I provide a horse for them to learn barrel racing on and use. I do not provide this service, nor will I be in the future. Thank you.

Foreman worked well for me Saturday in Winona. I was thrilled to get a win there. I struggle in that arena.

If you are not willing to fail, you are not ready to succeed.

Being and becoming a winner requires failure.

More than that—it requires coping with failure in the most productive way possible.

Learning.

If you accept now that you will likely have far more failures than successes on whatever path you’re on, you can more easily adapt to navigate those failures.

Mentally you will proactively look at your missteps instead of lingering on their negative aspects and how you feel in the moment.

In other words—

Fail smarter.

The success is already yours.

Michael Phelps revealed that he had set a goal of becoming the greatest of all time. In pursuit of that goal, Phelps confessed;

“I went five straight years without missing a single day of workout. 365 days a year, every single day I was working.” 💪

He added; “In the world of swimming, when you miss one day, it takes you two days to get back… So I was continuing to build on that throughout that time. That was just who I was… There are days you don’t want to do it; everybody has those days. But it’s what you do on those days that move you forward.” 🏆

Michael Phelps may well have achieved his goal as he is currently the most successful and most decorated Olympian of all time with a total of 28 medals. Phelps also holds the all-time record for Olympic gold medals (23)🥇

Buck S**z Nex. Speck making a nice run in Albion NE yesterday.
She had some extra steps, acted a little c**ty, but every run is a learning process with young horses.
Hey she was well mannered at the trailer yesterday at least. The naughty award goes to Foreman for that lol.
Thanks for sharing the day with me Cessalie Sternhagen, so much fun!!

Did you know you can get private lessons at Highland Training? Yes you can! I figured with this warm weather someone might be looking for a place to ride and get some help.
For those that like one on one vs a clinic situation.
We can ride indoors or outdoors with the weather of course. My weekends are pretty busy but during the week and weeknights I’d love to help you and your horse.

Barely the day started and... it's already six in the evening.
Barely arrived on Monday and it's already Friday.
Weekends disappear into fleeting moments..
We are 2 months into a new Futurity year already….. and then month is already over... and the year is almost over... and already 40, 50 or 60 years of our lives have passed... and we realize that we lost our parents, friends.
and we realize it's too late to go back...
So... Let's try, despite everything, to enjoy the remaining time...
Let's put some color in our grey...
Let's smile at the little things in life that put joy in our hearts.
And despite everything, we must continue to savor every second we have.
Let's try to eliminate the afters...
The “I'm doing it after...”
I'll think about it after...
We leave everything for later like ′′ after ′′ is ours.
Because what we don't understand is that:
Afterwards, the coffee gets cold...
afterwards, priorities change..
Afterwards, your chance has been missed..
Afterwards, the charm is broken...
afterwards, health passes...
Afterwards, the kids grow up...
Afterwards, parents get old...
Afterwards, promises are forgotten...
afterwards, the day becomes the night...
afterwards, life ends.
And then it's too late.
So... Let's leave nothing for later.
Haul that c**t, enter that futurity, rodeo or jackpot!
Because still waiting, we can lose the best moments,
the best experiences,
best friends,
the best family.
The day is today... The moment is now...and I won’t be the one wishing I had done it when I had the chance.
I will be the one that’s already done it twice and took pictures.

Last update on Maple. Cute 4 yr old mare that arrived 2 months ago. I had to set up a roundpen in my barn as she couldnt lope a circle. (In trainer world, getting one in to “start” on the pattern she was not at that place yet..) She was kind, smart, and was trying. Fast forward to her cute owner coming today to ride her horse again. She was able to lope the pattern on her and was very excited. Her mom did the video and was pretty happy too. I am excited for this young lady and Maple! I have invited her to come for lessons and I think she would love the boot camp we do here too!

Buck S**z Nex, « Speck » got her second competition run today in NE. She had a trip and a slip at first but handled is all well. She’s starting to figure out we get to go fast around the barrels, lol. She’s been fun so far and gets better every trip away from home. She won enough to pay for the fuel, so she got extra cookies!

Tivtastic Bonita making a run thru for her second competition. She has came a lo g ways and continues to try hard and seems to change every week. And Bonbon even won some $$!!

It’s been one month since my last post about Maple.. I thought you might enjoy an update. She has been trying hard and has learned a lot. She enjoys her lessons but is still a little worried about her mouth and bits. She can lope small circles now and straight lines, lol. This was the first time she’s loped around 3 barrels. We practiced the 4 barrel drill a good amount of times and she’s pretty handy. Anyway, maybe this all sounds silly but she’s been a lot of work, so I’m glad she’s coming together. It may look like I havent done much, but she couldn’t lope a circle, much less take her leads, when she arrived in October.
