8 weeks old and Ready for New Homes!!
Kelpie/Border Collie Cross Puppies!!!
These pups are 3/4 Kelpie & 1/4 Border Collie.
The mother is a registered Kelpie who was started but is used for breeding now. She has instinct, desire, and a sweet temperament. The father is 1/2 Kelpie & 1/2 Border Collie, out of registered parents. (His mom is a registered Kelpie and the dad is a registered Border Collie working on a sheep farm in New York.)
I've been training the pups' dad and he is a pleaser! He is a quick learner and looks for any opportunity to work. Although, he's good enough to be out of his kennel most of the day and not bother the yearlings right here by the house. He'll make a great working dog! Both parents are friendly, good with kids, and have a working mind. Their pups should make good helpers on the ranch or farm, but have a sweet temperament to be family pets as well.
There are 5 females: 4 black & tan, 1 red & tan.
There are 3 males: 2 black & tan, 1 red & tan.
(Puppies are separated in pictures, 5 females in 2 pics & 3 males in other 2 pics.)
They are on a worming schedule and will have had 3 shots by the time they are ready to go to new homes on June 23rd.
See pictures in the comments of 5 females together, 3 males together, mother when expecting still, and father.
My aim is to raise stockdogs that have the natural desire & ability to work, but also have a great temperament! Checkout the link below to see a video of the pups. You can go read a couple of recent posts below with reviews of our pups!

1 Year Old Kelpie/Border Collie Cross With a Good Start!!
Willy was born May of 2022. I raised him from our registered Kelpie female and registered Border Collie male.
From the time he was a few months old, he was showing his natural instinct. (See the video links below and compare when he was four months old and was first being exposed to calves, to his other training videos.) He is super attentive to me and is looking to please! He knows here, sit, down, stay, out, come by, away, go home, & kennel. He’s got a great here & down, & he’s very good about staying. We have worked on pushing the calves, balancing, and him bringing them to me. I’ve also introduced him several times to the training collar. It’s not needed, but a good reminder and I wanted him to have experience with it. We put it on each time we work, but I very seldom use it.
He is not a barker, although if someone comes in our yard, or is walking out by our mailbox through the trees, he will alert me. He is very friendly with all people and other dogs. He has a great all-around personality. He loves to work, but is trustworthy enough for me to have our calves in the pasture right by our house, and he will leave them alone. He is not a kennel dog that has to be kept up at all times. He is out most of the day and never runs off. He may chase a tweety bird to the trees into the hay field, but will be right back.
I can’t say enough about this guy! He is going to make someone a very good working dog and companion! Like I said, he has a good start, but he is not finished. He has been my favorite to train so far. He’s a good looking male and will make a good dog for breeding. He knows what that is all about and will get it done.

Who needs a puppy?!
Look at these cute rascals!! 😄
I want to take a few minutes to talk about our last litter of puppies!
Dixie was bred to a well-built and great, working Kelpie that a friend owns. This made a mix of 1/2 Kelpie, 1/4 Blue Heeler, & 1/4 Border Collie. Dixie raised 9 puppies, & I was so impressed with the good looking, smart, and quick learning pups this cross produced. They definitely had a desire to work stock but were also just super all-around dogs as a companion or for the family. That is what I am aiming for! My focus is on providing great, all-around, started stockdogs!
I kept 1 female and 2 males out of the litter that I taught general obedience to first, then started training on sheep and cattle. We started with “walk-up” & “out”, and then “come-bye” and “away”, to know what direction I wanted them to go. I was amazed at how fast the pups were on their feet, but loved watching their slow creep when they walked up. I’ve enjoyed the training and am excited about a few young dogs I’m working with now. I’m also interested in taking in some young dogs to train in the future! So pass it on to your family and friends!!
Dixie’s next litter is due any time!! 😊
