As temperatures continue to rise, don't forget to take extra precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of your pets.

Hot weather can pose big risks, especially due to the heat radiating from the ground, which can burn your pet's paws. To protect your pets, check the ground temperature before walks by placing the back of your hand on it for 5-10 seconds; if it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws.

Walk pets early in the morning or late in the evening when temperatures are cooler, and always ensure they have access to fresh, cool water. Provide shade if they spend time outdoors and limit exercise to avoid overexertion.

Look for signs of overheating, such as excessive panting or drooling, and never leave pets in cars, as temperatures inside can soar rapidly. Protective gear like pet booties and cooling vests can also help.

Our Story

Hi! I’m Angela Carter, owner of Awesome Pawsome Pet Spa. I’ve been professionally grooming since 1995 and received my grooming certification from Petropolis Academy of Grooming (now called The Academy of Pet Careers) in 1997. I also am a certified canine esthetician as of 2018. Instead of opening another St.Louis shop in a commercial location, I saw this place for sale(formerly The Dirty Dog was in this space.) I knew nothing about the area and have no family or friends here, but the Valley was love at first site. I knew I needed to set up shop here. Along with help from my best friend and business partner, Awesome Pawsome Pet Spa was born in March of 2016.

I set myself apart from other groomers by being certified and continuing my grooming education. I attend as many seminars, classes and trade shows as I can annually so I can give your pet the best grooming experience ever. I also have a self contained shop attached to my house. It has everything a shop would have in a commercial location. After working many years in bigger shops , including my former shops, I decided to try something a bit different. I chose to slow down, go by appointment only and do one on one grooming. This means your dog is basically the only one in the shop while being groomed. It’s quiet and low stress. Dogs seem to love the extra time of being pampered one on one and not having barking or noisy dryers constantly running all day.

My shop is also all inclusive which means you’re not paying for all the extras like other shops may do. I wanted to make sure I can offer all I possibly can to make your pet have an awesome spa day. Of course, I do offer some extra special ‘extras’ for the ultimate spoiled pup. All pups are treated to a hydrotherapy bath with shampoo and conditioner suited to his/her needs, blueberry facial scrub, ears cleaned and hair removed, dental spray, nails clipped and filed, Shed Less treatment(breed applicable), hand dry, haircut if requested, cologne and bandana or bows. My prices reflect the unique setting of my shop, the use of high quality products and my 20+ years of expertise.

Since 2016, my shop has grown from just me to having 2 pt groomers and an assistant. We are hoping to continue to grow and evolve.
