The Ironwood Dog Park is a project of H.O.P.E. Animal Shelter and the Friends of the Miners Memorial Heritage Park, and located within the Miners Memorial Heritage Park within walking distance of H.O.P.E. The Ironwood Dog Park is funded by activity donations and suggested donations for dog park use. A double gated entrance using a modular ke

nnel. We chose this design for a number of reasons: A fairly simple installation using volunteers to provide a contained area to let dogs run, the design fits in with the historic ambience of the Miners Park, and is a low cost solution to assess the interest of a dog park in ironwood. We have a list of upgrades for the future when the dog park proves successful. Your help is sincerely appreciated to make the Ironwood Dog Park a success!

Quick Reminder: Weather forecast is Sunny, passing clouds, high of 79! The dog park will be closed to off-leash dogs between 8 am & noon. Hope to see you Sunday morning!
Looking for something to do this next Sunday morning? A quick walk in Miners Memorial Heritage Park (with or without your dog!) is a good way to start the day. $15 entry fee with some give away prizes will help the Dog Park pay for annual upkeep costs.

HOUND DOG HIKE coming up! Believe the last one we held was in 2021. Details so far (with firm plans in the next couple of days): SUNDAY, SEPT 14th between 9am & 12pm. Plan on the Dog Park being closed to all off-leash dogs from 8 am until noon.

Entry fee used to pay for doggy bags, lawn mowing, fence repairs, entry gate repairs. It generally costs about $1000/year to cover various expenses. This has nothing to do with the other fundraising activities for the proposed small dog park. Proceeds from this event benefit only the existing Iron King Dog Park.

We might have a couple food trucks on site and will post a flyer with entry fee info as soon as all plans are finalized. Cross your fingers for some beautiful autumn weather, bring your pup for a walk, but honestly, it's NOT required you bring a dog along!!

FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN for a small-dog park.

We are seeking to establish a fenced in area exclusively for small dogs, just around the corner from the existing fenced in yard - NOT attached to the existing park at all. Size will be about 110 ft x 40 ft and be located just south of the SW corner of the current park (across from the large mower access gate). Projected costs for the materials are $2500 to $3000. We've collected approximately $1000 so far. HOPE Animal Shelter, with permission from Friends of Miners Memorial Heritage Park, maintains a bank account exclusively for Iron King Dog Park. Any contribution amount would be greatly appreciated; checks should be made payable to HOPE Animal Shelter with a memo of "small dog park." You can also donate through Paypal and select SMALL Dog Park on the donation drop-down box.

Park property is city owned; HOPE takes care of providing doggy bags, lawn care and fence maintenance. This expansion project is spearheaded by community members who are fundraising and giving volunteer time to install the fencing.

A big THANK YOU to the many businesses who have allowed donation canisters at their stores and to everyone who has already donated to get this project moving along.

For further info or inquiries, please contact Renee Smidl at 906.675.9369 or the HOPE Treasurer, Colleen Sachs at 906.364.1445.

Thinking about a new picnic table too!

New bench at the park and we're guessing/hoping someone left the rock as a thank-you for replacing the busted up one!

Lawn mowing will start next week, not sure what day though.

As always, please clean up after your dogs, plenty of bags and we're getting back on the regular park check up, taking away garbage, etc.

We had not checked the donations box for a while, but that's all caught up too. What we gathered from donations actually paid for the new bench so THANK YOU all for that!!

** extra ask of park users: there's some ankle twisting holes being dug by dogs. No problem with dogs wanting to dig, but could you maybe kick the dirt back into the hole before you leave the park?
