In 2019 when we first opened, one of our customers had to rehome 2 of her 4 kittens. Our tenant neighbor next door to Club Cat adopted one of the kittens and a friend of CCā€™s founder Shana adopted another. We are so excited to host Jameson (orange tabby) again 5 years later! Heā€™s no longer a kitten but heā€™s adorable as ever. First photo is him with his brother, Tiny (in the balcony) and second with his litter mates back in 2019 ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø We got lucky with these two adoptions - these days we leave rehoming opportunities to our ameowzing community partner because they do it the best! šŸ«¶

Our final Naming of Cats submission is last but not least! Chevreā€™s mama Karen explains the story behind her kittyā€™s name:

ā€œI knew I loved you before I met you.ā€
Chevre meaning ā€œGoatā€ in French, or from the Latin ā€œShe-goatā€, was named for her characteristic black patch on her chin. Her advertisement, or mugshot as I call it, featured a frozen scared four-month-old with the profile of a baby Billy goat. She struck me right away and I just had to meet her.

Chevre was born in a shelter on Motherā€™s Day. When they released her into the room, she shot out of the cage like a cannon, bouncing from wall to wall, and scurrying up the scratching post. Iā€™m not sure she even noticed I was there. It was time to play, and she was finally free. They asked me what I thought of her and, in that moment, she ran across my feet and drew blood on my ankle with her tiny claws. It was then that I knew she had chosen me. She came home within the hour and has since housed my heart.

Chevre LOVES to play and is self-entertained. Her favorite toys are not toys at all. She adores trash ties, those little flexible twisty things you get in a box of garbage bags. At home, Chevre is very vocal and demands I stop whatever TV show Iā€™m watching immediately to search for her lost ā€˜toyā€™ under whatever furniture piece has currently eaten it. Chevre does not only eat dry food. She plays with it. One by one, she grasps each pellet and tosses it in a game of air hockey until she eventually ā€˜winsā€™ and eats the prize. Her newest trick is opening the wooden shutters all too early in the morning and whether you are decent or not.

Chevre is not the easiest name for others to understand, pronounce, or even spell. I got a lot of grief for choosing it. People said I should pick something practical, a proper cat name that related to me and my interests. It is funny how her name actually means more than ever imagined. Originally from the great state of Michigan, I went to college near Detroit, and Chevre goes by ā€˜Chevyā€™ for short, nicknamed for goat farmers from Normandy symbolizing courage, determination, and strength.

Continuing our Naming of Cats contestā€¦Meet CC Kitty guest Kia! Her mama, Lisa (& Nick), shares her naming story below:

In May 2023 my husband and I were living in my childhood home, caring for my mother who had advanced dementia.

One night we heard loud crying and instantly identified it as a kitten. Dashing outside, I tried to find the source, but no luck. The next night the crying came again and this time we spotted two tiny kittens hiding under my husbandā€™s car, which was parked on the side of the house. Day after day, Iā€™d meow at the back door, and the kitten, whoā€™d taken up residence underneath my car in the driveway, would answer back. My husband said it got to the point where he couldnā€™t tell if it was me or the kitten.
I bought kitten food, and it took many days before it would even let me see it, but it continued to ā€œtalkā€ to me. Eventually we got it to the porch, but it was always a windā€™s-breath from scurrying back to the safety of my front undercarriage.

With a nice gap under the screen door, we played with it using a ribbon or a ping pong ball. Slowly it started to become less frightened. But the day it stayed on the porch while I stood in the kitchen with the door open and I snapped pictures of that heart-melting face, I knew I was hooked. Within a few days it let me touch it for the first time and it must have melted its heart, too, because it really liked that attention. I made a veterinarian appointment, and we managed to lure it into the house, then into a box for the trip.

Found out it was a boy, but we mostly still refer to it as ā€œherā€ and by then a name had become simply too obvious. If you havenā€™t figured it out, I drive a Kia. We joke that if the grey kitten had stayed, weā€™d have a second cat named Buick.

Mom passed March of 2024, but Kia was a constant companion for us both, with their kitten-antics and warm, soft cuddles. Truly a blessing at the right time!

OCā€™s FIRST luxury cat hotel in Irvine, CA is open!

Club Cat was born out of my lifelong love and passion for cats. I know how hard it can be for cat parents who travel stress free and not worry about their beloved kitty cat while they are away. We want our kitties to be in a safe, comfortable, spacious place that is overflowing with love.

When I traveled for work or pleasure, it was difficult because I've never had family nearby. Neighbors can be wonderful, but they have their own lives. Would my cat be their priority? Probably not. And I didn't want to put my cats in a cramped cage in a sterile environment with barking dogs. Nor was I comfortable with a pet sitter - a complete stranger - having access to my house and personal belongings - as well as my kids' personal information - while I was away.

At Club Cat, we believe every cat deserves a vacation while you're away. And you as a cat parent deserve to be worry-free knowing that your kitty cat is being pampered with 5-star service, entertainment, and comfort in each stay.
