We are very lucky to have 2 So Cal HCM clinics now.

Orange County and the newest one North County San Diego.

Our 4 yr old Charcoal queen Lily and her 3 yr old daughter Paisley passed their 4th and 3rd annual HCM tests today.

Paisleys 14 week old silver girl came along for the ride. It was her 1st time outside and on a leash. She did great.

This San Diego clinic was really cool as the cardiologist had us hold our cats while he did the scans and explained the echo cardiogram screen as he was doing the scans.

Vet cardiologists have 12 yrs of additional schooling beyond their undergrad to develop the skills to do this work. The machine alone costs 60 grand. It's why your regular vets don't do it and why a retail vet cardiologist visit costs $1000

It's also why we only use.board certified cardiologists and not mobile radiology techs who send the pics to a remote vet for evaluatjon. Not the same level of accuracy

Increasing the age at which kittens are separated from their mother and littermates could improve welfare, researchers say.


TiCA breeder code of ethics calls for 1st 2 shots before rehoming. These are.done at.8 and 12 weeks. This is one of the reasons why ethical breeders deliver kittens after 12 or 14 weeks

The primary reason however is kittens learn important behavior, confidence and socialization skills from mom and their littermates during 8 to 12 week period.

It is not statistical relevent that your kitten arrived at 8 or 9 weeks and has no behavioural problems, as this study was carried out on 5726 cats of 40 breeds.

The only party that benefits from sending a kitten home at 8 weeks is the unethical breeder as 8 to 12 weeks is the most expensive period for breeders to feed the kitten.

These unethical breeders are probably breeding their queens to soon which is unhealthy for queens and kittens. They also never do the expensive annual Cardio exams on the adults to minimize chances of Fatal HCM in their kittens.

This is a red flag to avoid these breeders.

Our 5G brown Queen Paisley is such a good mom to the last kitten of her and Ices March 31st litter.

Charmain is a big silver girl with stunning markings and a very outgoing personality. She was born in our bedroom and socialized since 1 hr old. She definitely is not a hide under the bed kitten.

She has nice spotted legs, symmetrical high contrast markings, and a short thick tail from her dad.. She has an excellent head profile, rounded setback ears, and wild looking eyes.

She carries lynx snow from her dad and APb if not double APb since both mom and dad carry APb.

We would keep her for producing silver lynx snows, but she is related to both our current Lynx studs.

We will be showing her in the bengal kitten class in the next SoCal TICA show as we think she will do well with her structure and personality.

We normally don't post about upcoming litters, but we don't have blue bengal kittens very often.

I thought I'd give everyone a heads up who is looking for a blue bengal as we will have one or two from our Silver stud Steele (dilute and sepia carrier) and our 5G Blue Queen Shakira (Lynx carrier) in 60 days.

Possible Kitten colors will be browns, blues, minks, silvers and combos of blue minks and blue silvers.

Louis carries Lynx snow, and his double APp genes give him a charcoal look, but with rosettes instead of a black cape. I actually prefer double APb to a standard charcoal APb/a with black spots vs rosettes.

He's got loads of glitter, and the video doesn't do his coat justice.

He's super friendly and gentle with his teeth and claws when playing.

He was born in our master bedroom and socialized since 1 hr old

If u want a big, sweet, dark brown or charcoal brown male, Louie is the kitten for you

This is one of the reasons why ethical breeders never let kittens go home before 12 weeks old.

Kittens learn a lot from mom and their littermates in that 8 to 12 week time. They are much more confident and less likely to have psychological and litterbox issues when they go home after 12 weeks old. They don't bond any better at a younger age.

The only advantage at 8 weeks is to the breeder.
8 to 12 weeks is the most expensive time and most work to keep the kitten for a breeder.

Don't let backyard breeders tell you any different. It's only about money if they let kittens go at 8 weeks.

Either that, or they are not aware of TICA breeder code of ethics requiring 1st 2 shots (8 and 12 weeks) before going home.

This handsome 8 week old dark brown boy just became available after a client changed their mind and went with one of our silvers.

Great profile, nice rounded ears, and tons of personality.

Winter, our 16 mth old Charcoal Lynx queen, had her 1st litter last Friday.

They were 3 days early and 2 required KMR feeding to be strong enough to nurse, but all are doing great now and gaining 10 to 15 grams a day.

Winter is so protective, she won't leave her nesting box. We have to put her food in there for her to eat.

She has 3 gorgeous mink snow females, 1 Charcoal brown male, 1 silver male and 1 brown male.

We haven't had mink snows in a while and are excited to see how the 3 little girls develop.

Sire is our silver stud, Steele.
