Hello everyone! We are very happy to announce our newest team member at BLVC. Welcome, Dr. Fowkes! We’re so happy to have you 🐾🦴❤️
Dr. Fowkes is an Associate Veterinarian at Barnes Lake Veterinary Center. Originally from Apollo, PA she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She then went on to pursue her veterinary degree at St. George's University in Grenada, West Indies in 2020 and completed her clinical year at the Ohio State University. Dr. Fowkes' professional interests include dermatology, internal medicine, and dentistry. She is also fear-free certified.
Dr. Fowkes has been in the veterinary field since 2014, starting as a technician prior to going to veterinary school.
In veterinary school, she was the President of the Feral Cat Project which helped care for the stray cats on the island of Grenada. She has wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as she can remember. It has always been her dream to advocate for animals and their wellbeing. Her favorite part of being a veterinarian is to meet all of the different personalities of pets. Even with the most fearful, she enjoys taking her time and making their veterinary experience as fun, positive, and peaceful as possible.
Dr. Fowkes currently resides in Apollo, PA with her 5 cats and chihuahua mix, Douglas. Dr. Fowkes has two paraplegic cats that she cares for, Scooter and Lieutenant Dan. When she is not at work, she enjoys taking Douglas for walks, spending time with friends and family, cooking, traveling, and kayaking.
