My marimo moss balls have arrived. Once they soak they will fall to the bottom of the tank. I'll update with another picture later. Also thinking of using gems to top off my plant pots. I usually go for a natural as possible set up so gems would definitely deviate from my norm, but it's a thought.

Slow going, but I'm getting there! I need a bit more substrate than I anticipated. Guess that's next on my list. Otherwise, I just need a piece of wood and I'm waiting on a delivery of marimo moss balls. Once everything is in place, I can get down to more serious water testing and parameter adjustments.

So, I received a betta from a pet store that was returned and couldn't be returned to their inventory. Meet my new little veiltail female. I'm used to giant Bettas, so she is incredibly tiny to me. Albeit, she's probably not quite full grown either. She looks great. Just 24 hours with me and she's got some amazing color and personality. ❤️

Still working on getting her better accommodations, but the container is surprisingly large and that's a live plant!

Also looking for a name! Suggestions accepted.

Had an unfortunate biofilm on the top of the water. Had to clean up what I could and break it up. I hate that. It'll probably take me a few days to completely clean it out. Unfortunately, I need a new vacuum hose because my old one has mold in it. 🥲

We're a wee bit cloudy today, but no clarifiers will be used yet. And yes, I see the stuff on the bottom. It's from a nitrate/nitrite remover that I now regret. Lol

When you're cleaning out some expired chemicals and find crystals in a bottle. Interesting stuff. You can tell that this bottle has been hiding for a while.

What do we have going on here? A tank being set up? YES!!!

Hopefully I will have a spawning pair in the next few months. They are a bit young at the moment. Just getting the water going for now. Once I've got all the chemistry perfect I'll get some live plants. I may have a small group of females live in it for a bit. Might even isolate a male. We'll see how I feel.

Meet Moonlight (top picture with a white face) and Sea-gem (bottom picture). I promised pictures of them, but they aren't fond of me taking pictures. These two girls are both Giant Halfmoon Plakats. They are both huge! Almost 4 inches long. They are strictly pets. I'm still hunting for males and females with breeding potential.

Hello Betta lovers! It's been a bit of a stretch since my last post. My last few pairings didn't work out. Can't force love after all. As of this moment, all I have are two Giant Halfmoon Plakat females that I keep as pets only. I'm on the hunt for new breeding males and females, but I'm picky. I'll post pictures of my girls when they decide to cooperate.
