After 37 years of dedicated service to veterinary medicine, Dr. Susan Cannon will be retiring from Northern Veterinary Associates.
Dr. Cannon has been practicing in our area since 1988. She began her career at the Negaunee Veterinary Clinic, having practiced there for 14 years. In 2002, she and Dr. Jandron opened Northern Veterinary Associates. From that point forward they were allowed to build the practice they had always dreamed about. For the next 23 years, Dr. Cannon was an integral part of our veterinary team, providing exceptional medical care and heartfelt compassion to countless patients and their families. Her commitment to excellence, professionalism, and community has set the highest standard for veterinary care.
As Dr. Cannon begins this new chapter, we extend our deepest gratitude for her years of service and leadership. While we will miss her presence in the clinic, her legacy will continue to shape our practice for years to come.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Cannon on her well-deserved retirement.

VETERINARIAN SPOTLIGHT

For those who have not met her yet, we wanted to introduce Dr. Sarah Bogaudo.
Dr. Bogaudo joined Northern Veterinary Associates last October as one of our associate veterinarians. She has quickly become a valuable part of our team.
Growing up in Iron Mountain, Dr. Bogaudo has deep roots in the Upper Peninsula. Her love for nature and the outdoors is rooted in her upbringing, and she finds happiness in the natural beauty that the UP has to offer.
Dr. Bogaudo is a dedicated veterinarian with a deep passion for animal welfare. A proud 2023 graduate of Ross University of Veterinary Medicine, she immediately took the opportunity to move back to the beautiful Upper Peninsula to continue her career in companion animal medicine. She is enjoying her time with our patients, and is looking forward helping our clients keep their pets happy and healthy!
Dr. Bogaudo spends her free time with her family and two dogs, Harlow and Bea, enjoying all the activities that our area has to offer. Lake Superior is her all time favorite place to be.

Please keep your pets indoors on days like we had yesterday. I saw many cases of heat related illness on emergency this weekend.

Remember, dogs can’t sweat, and their ability to control body temperature with panting is very inefficient with high heat and humidity.
Heat stroke comes fast for our pets, and they can be put in great danger.

Even if they are out swimming or on a boat with family, especially in the mid-day sun, they can get sick.

So please keep your pets safe by leaving them home with the air conditioning or a fan on them. Then take them out when it cools down.
That will keep your awesome furry family member happy and healthy!
